To be honest, I felt very cheated. . There was a surprise 10% service charge and surprise tax for music. . To be very fair, I absolutely don’t mind paying extra for the music, but I would be comfortable if I am told that. Not a surprise on my bill.. Same thing goes with a 10% service charge. It was nowhere mentioned on any of the menu pages that there was a 10% service charge on the total. . We purposefully went to the restaurant seeing the high Google reviews. I’m not sure whether this music charge and the 10% charge are levied on us as tourist or is it applicable to all the people dining so posted the photo of the bill also for future tourist. . The ambience of the entire place is good. The music really level up for the atmosphere and the ambience.. the musicians were nice and very interactive.
the food is good, but I have to say we ordered a jar of passionfruit juice, but what came out was pineapple juice. The waiter understood the mistake and they replaced it. We ordered some baked carb cakes, which was really nice. Also some breaded and fried shrimp. Which was nice.. . If the surprise on the bill, the 10% source charge and the musicians tax , if it would’ve been mentioned in the menu or posted in big font on the wall of the restaurant , I would not have given a two star review. I simply don’t like...
Read moreCame here for dinner, and there was no wait. The ambiance is super cute (although touristy, but I’m fine with it!). The waitstaff had cool outfits and hats, and there were times when they had live singing in the restaurant. There were some mosquitos flying around, so that was not great
They had an English menu which was nice. We got the sun-dried meats and cassava for the appetizer. It was huge and could have been an entree in itself! The meat was mostly tender. Some parts were drier, and some parts were too salty, but still tasty. The fried cassava was surprisingly good. They were extra crispy and had a light/slightly sweet flavor. I didn’t like the regular cooked cassava very much
For my entree, I got the Moqueca (fish stew), which comes with rice and this yummy sauce. The fish was mostly tender, although some parts were drier. The stew also had pieces of shrimp (they were small and kind of dry). The flavor of the stew was amazing! Also loved the sauce that came with it. My bf got a fish dish, which was pretty good, but also had some drier parts. For dessert, we tried the Sertao gelado, which was a sweet coconut and tapioca ice cream dish. It was interesting and pretty good and didn’t have a strong coconut taste, which was good for me because I don’t prefer coconut. Overall enjoyed the meal. Prices...
Read moreAbsolutely fantastic little spot in the Copacabana area located right not far from the beautiful beach. Prepare to be wait for a table during high periods but I went around the busiest time of the day on the weekend and was able to be seated in less than 20 minutes for just a party of 1. Extremely tourist friendly with free Wi-Fi, English menus, and the servers even speak a little bit of English. I ordered the traditional Brazilian fish stew, Moqueca and it was absolutely perfect. Lots of fresh seafood and tons of well developed flavors that is cooked to order as it took almost an hour to get my food after ordering. The sides it came with, the rice and savory pumpkin puree was amazing and created the perfect pairing. The servers even went around and created a plate for you built from the family style presentation and is built for sharing. Portion sizes are quite larger and prices are more than reasonable for the quality of food especially in this tourist area. Come check...
