Found this gem during a 10-minute walk from the JW Marriott on Copacabana. The Bakers has a dual concept - a bakery section up front and a sit-down pizzeria area where we decided to have lunch.

Surprisingly, we all opted for filet steaks instead of pizza. I ordered mine with a fruit sauce and risotto, which was the day's special - absolutely delicious! The boys got fries and steaks as well, though they were a bit disappointed with the hot chocolate, which turned out to be actual melted chocolate rather than the powdered mix with milk they were expecting.

Despite our complete lack of Portuguese (we basically just said "obrigado" constantly - the magic word!), the service was decent. The interior was cozy though a bit warm inside, but the quality of the food more than made up for it.

The pricing was excellent for the quality, making this a real value find. If you're staying in Copacabana and feel like stretching your legs for a short walk away from the beachfront, this is a wonderful spot to pop in for either a quick pastry or a full meal. Just don't expect American-style hot chocolate if that's what you're...

If you have a sweet tooth, this is the place for you! This popular place has amazing sweets, baked goods, and also serves other food items, too. Croissants are not typical flaky kind but instead stuffed with lots of chocolate, drizzled with more chocolate, and topped with glazed strawberries, so it's a lot more heavy than what us Europe and Americans expect. The cappuccino comes sweetened so you need to ask for it without sugar if you want it that way. The quiche was delicious but it is way more cheesy than eggy and has a LOT of garlic. I was also given a free "matte," which is a south American sweet iced tea. Servers know just a little English and menus are not in English, but with Google Translate we were...

Delicious coffee (Cafe Vilanense) - it’s an espresso with creamy ice cream, cinnamon and chocolate. The chicken plate was also very appetizing - the chicken tasted fresh and was super crunchy outside, the corn cream was sweet and the perfect texture, and the broccoli rice was delicious (tastes more like Parsley). Would not order the dessert (pictured) again just because the dough was too thick and coarse for my taste. Would come back for that coffee and to taste other types of coffee and plates. Did not spend more than R$70 for all.
