A good friend recommended this place because we love seafood. Their menu is shrimp-centric. The restaurant is in a shopping mall, and there are a lot of tables, all of which were filled – that’s always a good sign.
Food: We went with the Camarao Na Moranga, which was our friend’s recommendation. It’s essentially shrimp in a pumpkin with a sauce and vegetables. There were lots of perfectly cooked shrimp and a tasty, slightly pumpkin-flavored sauce. The vegetables inside were good, and it was a hearty dish. It was a better choice than our combo with crayfish and shrimps, which was grilled, but it felt more boiled than grilled, and it lacked spices and flavor. The vegetables with that dish weren’t great either. The peas were dry, and the other vegetables weren’t seasoned. I also wanted a different sauce. They brought oil and vinegar, but I would have preferred a tartar sauce, because the shrimp didn’t have much flavor on their own.
Service: The service seemed slow, but the place was packed. Even so, we waited over 40 minutes for our food. The waiters didn't speak English, but that wasn’t a big deal; we managed to get by with gestures. However, the waiter forgot one of our dishes.
Conclusion: It's a decent spot with a huge menu, and if you're in the mall, you might as well give it a try. But it’s a higher-priced restaurant, but the food was just okay. It’s a one-time...
Read moreI would start listing some good points which are the food, the design and atmosphere of this restaurant.
The service was on the other hand very slow and mediocre at best.
The place was not full but pretty packed which seemed to be not manageable for the staff.
Our order was mixed up and some of the main course missed serving to us. That was not a special meal but a regular one from the menu.
In addition one drink was missed too and when I tried to notify the waiter he turned away with an 'I do not speak english ' sentence. I was under the impression he would call for help but no simply did not care and turned away and started to do something else. Hmm no further comment ......
My wife then waved at him and spoke in Portuguese and informed him about the missing main course and beer. Then 10 minutes later the beer arrived as well as the main course.
Overall we had a good lunch with family and enjoyed our meal but the service level did not match the quality of the food.
At the end they made a mistake with the total amount of the lunch, charging us twice for the beer that was delayed. I did not bother to explain or had my wife to get them to sort this out. We paid and left with mixed experiences which can be summarized with one sentence. Good food and...
