This place is very special. The waiters are busy but attentive and very kind. They are very aware of your order and waiting to see if you need anything else. The location is perfect with easy access and exit. The ambiance/energy/vibe is very welcoming. The solid walls make the echoing of conversations create this atmosphere. The presentation of the food and wait times is very tight and deliberate. great wine menu. It attracts a very high end crowd so be prepared to pay R$250 for entrance, mains, shared dessert and wine. I didn’t pay the bill and it was over 500 on this occasion…. But food and drink flowed. This place would be amazing on a first date. We chose the fish and they brought the fish out and we chose the weight of how much we wanted. Four people then chose the to choose 1 accompaniment to go with the dinner. Everything was delicious. There were some unique things that I didn’t think paired so well but nothing to major.

The dessert was a Sicilian lemon dessert. It was amazing but if I could add any construction criticism is that the they could have made the lemon skin on the fake lemon dessert taste more like lemon. I wanted it to be citric and pungent to counter the ice cream. But it was rather bland. I would have also have liked the vanilla ice cream to have more protein… it didn’t have much body and wasn’t as creamy as I would expect from a high level restaurant. With acidity of the ice cream lemon skin part you wouldn’t have needed the raspberry cream the dessert was topped with. The lemon like dessert was also place on a mound of a farinha type like base the lemon sat on. It tasted like a sweetened manjericão (I’ll update this post soon with the actual thing). It wasn’t bad, it was interesting, but it reminded me of pistachio.

I would definitely order again to make sure I appreciated fully the flavour combination.

We had explored almost all the restaurants in Ipanema and finally made it to this one. It has a charmingly cozy design, reminiscent of a hidden Italian patio with its light walls and plenty of natural light. The atmosphere is pleasant, even though the tables are quite close together.

Food:

We chose a starter, a mini prawn burger, and opted for the sizeable grilled lobster with pasta as our main. Sadly, the starter never arrived due to an oversight by the waiter, who either forgot about it or didn't process the order properly. For our main course, we each received a halved lobster with a portion of creamy tomato pasta. It looked absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately, the lobster, which should have been the star of the dish, was a disappointment. It was flavourless, some parts were unchewy, and its texture was more rubbery than the creamy and juicy experience we were hoping for. We suspect it may have been overcooked. However, the pasta stole the show. It was perfectly cooked, smooth, and perfectly balanced in terms of spices. The sauce wasn't oily, and the acidity of the tomato sauce was beautifully balanced by the creaminess.

Service:

The service was weak. The staff didn't speak English, and there was no menu with pictures, which made ordering a bit challenging. Our waiter forgot part of our order, and we had to wait a considerable amount of time for the main course.

Overall:

This restaurant seems popular with locals, but our experience was underwhelming. The main course was a let-down, and the entire experience wasn't enjoyable. We'll not be returning, as there are many other more interesting restaurants in the area. However, if you do find yourself here, I highly recommend trying the pasta - they certainly know how...

Estive neste restaurante em uma noite de sábado chuvoso.

Inicialmente na semana, ao entrar em contato com o restaurante, perguntei a possibilidade de reservas, o mesmo, prontamente me informou que reservas poderiam ser feitas apenas para o horário das 19h00. Até aí sem problemas, visto que eu só poderia chegar nos últimos horários de funcionamento do restaurante.

Ao chegar no restaurante por volta de 22:15 Pude constatar uma fila na porta, mesmo com o tempo como extremamente chuvoso. Fui até o responsável e inseri o meu nome na lista de espera, mesa para duas pessoas, estava na quinta colocação na quantidade de mesas e na nona colocação na quantidade de mesas em geral, mesmo que aparentemente não tivesse tudo de contingente ali esperando.

Algumas pessoas desistiram, mas, se fez uma pequena confusão na fila justamente por isso, pessoas que eram chamadas não estavam ali, logo, a fila transcorreu um pouco, uma mesa de prioridade assim que chegou passou a frente de todas, conforme determina o que eu acho justo.

Adentramos ao restaurante pontualmente às 23h00, isso porque, era constatado e notório, principalmente na primeira mesa após a porta, que as pessoas já tinha acabado de consumir, mas estava naquele famoso e atípico jeito brasileiro de travar a mesa por simples vontade de conversar, considere as justo ter uma tolerância para as pessoas satisfazer após comerem, mas, deixarem elas fazerem uma conferência na mesa, sabendo que tem uma fila de espera e também o horário de encerramento, é algo surreal que os estabelecimentos do Brasil praticamente são obrigados a permitir pela falta de respaldo em pedir para que o cliente se retire e ceda a vez ao próximo.

O garçom, gentilmente veio coletar o pedido, e um dos pedidos seria um spaghetti à carbonara, o mesmo perguntou se poderia fazer uma sugestão, e fez isso em um prato relativamente com o sabor igual, e justamente com preço igual, não que seja de grande importância, mas, achei muitíssimo honesto da parte do mesmo.

Aliás, o atendimento foi impecável do início ao fim, com total excelência e profissionalismo por parte de todo o corpo.

Degustamos a Burrata juntamente com a foccacia, que estavam perfeitamente bem preparadas, e assim que os pratos principais foram entregues, antes mesmo de dar a primeira garfada, o garçom perguntou se queríamos ser alocados em uma mesa no ambiente mais interno, onde estava muito mais agradável de onde estávamos, na porta e com um vento bem fino e frio e corrente.

Assim, mudamos de mesa, podemos degustar os pratos, que estavam perfeitamente bem preparados, principalmente a recomendação a qual o garçom fez. Após isso, solicitamos a famosa sobremesa dos mesmos, o limão siciliano com recheio de abacaxi e geleia de frutas vermelhas, algo muito, mas muito diferente do que os outros restaurantes servem sobremesa.

Eu recomendo tranquilamente, bolo de chocolate comemos em casa, coma essa sobremesa!
