With an average rating on Google of 4.6, I booked Viasete for our first meal in Ipanema.
First of all the service was average nothing exceptional. The waiting staff barely spoke English and were inattentive and apart from one, the rest were unfriendly in my opinion.
We wanted to order the fried crab croquettes but were told they were no longer on the menu, yet still appeared to be on the menu.
For a starter We ordered the quinoa salad with mango and additional toppings of feta cheese and mushrooms. I would say that there was not enough mango in the dish and the feta cheese instead of cubed should have been crumbled.
We ordered the seeded crust salmon with tomato spagetti which my husband liked. We also ordered the Thai curry with shrimps and brown rice. An acceptable dish but it needed to be hotter in tempreture.
What was best about this restaurant was the dessert offering. We ordered the chocolate pie with the base made of coconut and dates topped with dark chocolate panache and cream anglaise. It was a perfect size and tasted really good.
The bill came to approx £55.00 which was acceptable.
What my husband liked was you can choose your protein and the accompaniment.
It seemed a popular restaurant as it was busy although we did note that one couple was seated and after about 20 mins or so they left without ordering.
I think a nice place to have lunch rather...
Read moreThis place is not for domestic or international tourists. I’ve been to Brazil 6 times and this is the only bad experience I’ve ever had, and we have been everywhere from tiny pastel places on the side of the road to upscale restaurants in Brazil’s major cities. This place was highly recommended by our hotel and another local we met while in Rio.
My wife is Brazilian and ordered for us in Portuguese, so there was nothing lost in translation in this situation. We were given our drinks and then did not receive our food until over an hour later, while the entire staff stood around socializing with what seemed like friends coming and going.
We never received our appetizer or the water we asked for. We received 2 over cooked filets. No one asks for a well done filet, why would a chef cook over cook a filet if it was not on purpose. The place had more employees working than customers. Everyone who arrived after us received their food before us. Some even ate and left before we got our food.
We basically paid 300 reals for an awful meal and to be ignored for almost 2 hours. They also add on their own recommended gratuity, which is not optional. Everything about this place should be better for what they charge. Go...
Read moreThe food was overall very good. We tried the filet mignon with risotto and the shrimp risotto, both of which were excellent.
However, the service left much to be desired. Upon arriving at our table, we had to specifically ask for the restaurant menu, which felt a bit odd. After finishing our meal, we requested to take some of the risotto home, but the waiter’s attitude when bringing the packaged food back was unprofessional and unwelcoming.
Lastly, when we ordered dessert and coffee together, they served the coffee only after we had already finished the dessert. I found this surprising and disappointing, as I’ve never experienced coffee being served so late when both items were requested at the same time.
In summary, expect good food and a pleasant ambiance, but don’t count on the service matching the quality of...
