In general nice quality fish. When I was there they didn’t had tuna belly unfortunately so I couldn’t try but managed to try Jyo de camarao; for me it was okay but had so many flavors mixed and was bot easy to enjoy them all at the same time, Itamae gurume; basically 5 piece decided by the chef and most likely will be different for all in mine i had salmon belly it was okay but they use a lot of truffle oil and obviously they have a really good one because taste is very dominant but in personally I like my fish more fresh and fish flavor a strong truffle covers it all and it was the case in this piece, there was another piece with vieira super salty ingredient I had to take it out couldn’t manage to eat, another piece was bluefin like it very much and final one was enguia which was very pleasant. Another plate I asked was batera da de salmao; it wss quite fresh with lemon for me very good quality price plate with fresh touch. And finally nigiri’s with vieira again it was with truffle vieira itself was nice and fat but it is a personal preference that I would prefer without truffle. Overall ambient is nice and pieces are relatively big so this order can easily feed 2 people if they are not starving. Finally asked for a matcha sorbet and it was amazing to finish love the visual service and taste of it!! And little addition when I gave feedback on the salty sushi they were very understanding and received the feedback quite positively which was...
Read moreThis was my first time at Gurumê so I can't give you a really comprehensive review, but I can speak from my experience. Here is the short review: everything was quite good, but nothing I had hit the spectacular mark. Now a bit more, if you care to read on. First, the drinks. This was the first place I have been to in a long time that makes margaritas the right way: fresh lime juice, cointreau, and an añejo tequila in equal parts (Cuervo, in this case). The only way it could have been better is if they used a top shelf tequila like Patrón (but those are VERY expensive here in Brazil, and would drive the price of the drink way up), and if they used way less salt on the rim (IMHO a really good margarita makes the salt superfluous). My wife had a Moscow Mule that she loved, topped with a whipped cream foam infused with ginger and lime peel. The food itself was good, and they used some creativity in the flavoring and presentation (I really liked the shrimp mousse set atop salmon, wrapped around a ball of rice) but given the reputation of this restaurant, I was expecting to come across something that just blew my socks off. Sadly, this didn't happen, but in fairness it could have been my selection - there could be one of those killer dishes on the menu somewhere. The potential for it is certainly there. All in all, this is one of the better Japa/Sushi places I've ever been to, and I would...
Read moreI’m really head over heels for this place and would really recommend it to anyone who enjoys high-quality fish, interesting flavor combinations, and impeccable service. Start to finish, we were welcomed and attended to. The staff had a really strong ability to serve without being distracting, knowledgeable about food ingredients & flavor profiles, understanding of dietary restrictions & allergens, and you could tell we’re really just happy to be there. Although the weight staff is amazing, the food is really the star here.
The Ussuzukuri Salmão E Atum can not be missed. The Ostra dish in the photo was the second dish to come out. I managed to take a photo of it, but it was so delicious. I couldn’t even think about my phone after eating it. The Combinado Vegano 15 Peças is delicious interesting Vegan Sushi that is unlike anything I’ve had prior. The Combinado Gurumê 20 Peças is simply and complex. The textures and flavors and QUALITY of the fish is mind bending.
The vegan cake and ice cream is insane The matcha sorbet is equally impressive (I had the white chocolate ganache on the side)
I will certainly be coming back and making sure I tell anyone who’s visiting Rio to stop by and enjoy an...
