The place is cozy. We opted for the tasting menu which had 14 courses for R$145. We specified that my girlfriend couldn't eat meat and reassured us it wasn't a problem. We also ordered 2 cocktails for R$30 each.
One minute after ordering, the first dishes came. We were surprised of how quick it came. Right after we started eating, the 2nd dishes arrived, then the 3rd. We had 6 plates on our tables but still no drinks. All within the first 15 minutes. I have to say the first few dishes were good, no complains there. But we did feel like they were serving us our dish as soon as THEY were ready, not when we were. Maybe 25 minutes after ordering, our cocktails came, but so did half of our courses. The further it was through the menu, the less appealing it was. They also served pork belly to my girlfriend even though we specified she couldn't eat meat. We didn't really enjoy most of the remaining dishes and the ones including raw fish didn't taste that fresh.
On a more positive note. The tasting menu is All You Can Eat. So at the end, they offered to serve again any dishes of the menu but unfortunately we were already full. I believe that this place has a good potential but we didn't like...
Read moreMixed opinion on this place, it's a fixed menu and the value and variety is excellent at 155BRL pp and ask if you want a repeat at the end as well. Some of the dishes I'd question if they are Japanese but tasty nonetheless. We went on a Monday and the atmosphere was non-existent. My main issue was the pacing on how dishes are brought out to you it was literally like a conveyer belt and at times ridiculous. For example at tines we had 3 dishes at once, and another instance they bring out a large sushi/sashimi platter after about 6 /7 courses then still brought out 2 more dishes immediately after. For a multi course menu I'd expect to be there a while to digest the food and embrace the experience instead it was like they wanted us out the door in 30 minutes. They need to slow down especially if it's quiet. It's also a little hidden down a narrow alley road with very subtle green lights so keep your eyes peeled when...
Read moreIf you're looking for the best Japanese food in Rio, stop looking, you've found it. You can't beat the quality of food here, and definitely won't match the value for the meal. The host suggested the tasting menu, which we were initially wary of because my family has a lot of differences in what we can/will eat. However, he was happy to tailor the meal to meet our needs. After a few amazing dishes we felt we'd already gotten much more than our value. However, that's when the host told us "alright, that's just the beginning". The combinations of Japanese cuisine with distinctly Brazilian flavor and flare made for the most unique dining experience. We barely made it to desert, but it was more than worth it. The food was amazing, the host was warm, kind, and knowledgable and the atmosphere was lovely. We will...
