"A restaurant with such a price tag should definitely be serving masterchef style food or at least present a menu totally out of the ordinary. Nevertheless, Margutta presents a familiar style of food very similar to popular restaurants from Brazil, more especially Rio de Janeiro, such as Degrau, for instance. Servings are very big, quality is definitely there, I cannot say I was unhappy with the food all the times I've been there, what I can say is, for what you pay here you can find very unusual and groundbreaking culinary experiences elsewhere."
Above you can find my previous review, which I update with the recommendation of the main course king prawn with champagne sauce. You can choose what you want to eat together with this delicious serving, I chose roasted potatoes. Absolutely delicious. Mind blowing. I also recommend the desert called triads which includes a cheese ice-cream with guava jelly (typical Minas desert called Romeo and Juliet here in Brazil), brigadeiro and tiramisu. It's very tasty. I have uploaded pictures of both suggestions now. Updating my previous review, I find it OK nowadays on the price tag side, since everything has been so expensive here in Rio de...
Read moreExquisite old world seafood establishment serving top class dishes in classical style. Highly recommended to those appreciating the best ingredients sympathetically prepared with Italian simplicity and finesse. The service by formally dressed staff (how refreshing in otherwise over informal Rio) is tip top. The wine list is not extensive but those wines I had were all expertly selected, including choices by the glass. I started with shrimp prepared in the pan in a classic butter-herb sauce with hints of chilly and rosemary, followed by whole red snapper prepared with peeled tomato, olives and potato, which was just perfect and served at the table of the bone. The crown this feast I took the creme de papaya com cassis and what a glorious end it was. Those who believe a good meal should be concluded by a dessert of fruit combined with booze should not miss this wonderful...
Read moreAn exquisite, delicious, mouth melting lunch with my sister and level 10 years niece, Ana Carolina, a true foody that has an educated pallet. We started with pizza branco which was super thin, crispy pizza dough topped with parmesan cheese. Mozzarella di Milanese, crusted cheese smothered in a light tomato sauce. My sister and I split polenta al funghi and spaghetti ao vongole. The polenta creamy and rich, with a drizzle of truffle oil. We finished with two desserts, tiramisu (very good, all time favorite is at Le Segrete in Rome) and brigadeiro ao chocolate, chocolate truffle in a spoon!! You must go to Margutta for lunch or dinner when in Rio...
