Geiko San — Restaurant in Região Imediata de São Paulo

Well I wish I could say "I loved it", but I can't.

In short, Geiko San is a very good restaurant, but the cost far exceeds the level of sushi craftsmanship.

For about R$600 (2 ppl, just soft drinks) you can have a much better experience at other japanese restaurants, which certainly will offset the lack of fancy ingredients for excellent execution.

Very Low Point: Sushi Rice from the combo was under cooked. Rookie mistake, never expected this to be overlooked.

Low Point: Crispy scallop with Salmon Roe. Either the scallops died in the window or the guy who prepared is missing deep frying skills. Seriously, why brother making something crisp if it is going to be drenched in sauce for minutes? If the sauce was poured right before eating it could be remarkable, but sadly I can only recall soggy memories from this dish.

OK: Black Cod. The waiter insisted it would be remarkable, so we ordered it to find out the dish is a fish with Jello-like consistency, marinated in misso and something veeeery sweet, finished sous vide. The dish is only the protein (+2 slices of lemmon)! Luckily I ordered some Gohan to go along. To be honest, the flavor is nice but the texture of the fish is very weird. This dish seriously commands some rice or some sides to balance the soft and moist.

Aqui é o lugar perfeito pra você começar a se desgarrar de sistemas de rodízio. Os peixes são de muita qualidade e o custo benefício é ótimo!

O local é pequeno, porém, é o tamanho padrão e ideal para restaurantes japoneses, na minha opinião. Conseguem atender super bem a demanda do cardápio e o atendimento dos garçons, também é muito bom e atencioso.

Foi minha segunda vez em um intervalo de 4 meses e o padrão de qualidade foi o mesmo!

Na primeira vez, fomos em 4, pedimos o combinado especial p/ 4 o que foi muito bom e possui boas peças. Meu ponto é: poderiam fazer um combinado especial para 2 também, pois ontem pedi e apesar de estar muito bom, ele é muito básico. De resto, maravilhoso, sashimi em uma espessura incrível.

No “Makis & Rolls” pedimos o “Batera Spicy Tuna” e estava MUITO bom, assim como o “Uramaki Ebiten Especial”, que é incrível também.

Destaque pro sashimi de salmão com ovo de codorna, trufa negra e ovas. (Não está no cardápio não sei o motivo), mas já conhecíamos e pedimos.

Sobre os valores: Nós exageramos na quantidade, óbvio, mas queríamos comer bastante mesmo, e gastamos com bebida (refri) e serviço, R$ 200 por pessoa, que é o que você gasta em um rodízio desses que são mais famosos e come tudo em quantidades cavalares onde a qualidade nem se compara com um restaurante como o Geiko San, por exemplo.

Sugestão: se joga nos “Makis & Rolls”, entradas, sashimi etc, se você estiver em 2 pessoas, sem pedir combinado. A experiência vai ser muito melhor.

Caso esteja em mais pessoas, ai vale a pena pegar o especial + outros itens do cardápio.

Best sushi I’ve had in a VERY long time. The salmon temaki was incredible and by far my favorite. The tuna and salmon crispy rice was also delicious and perfectly balanced. I ordered a half portion of the “especial” roll and that was great too.
