Black Tourists/ people of color BEWARE! The decor of this place was amazing and the food was pretty good, however the service and atmosphere made me feel unwanted and uneasy from the moment I stepped in.
I went in with my girlfriend who actually spoke Portuguese and after waiting a bit to be seated in a mostly empty restaurant, the awkward and menacing stares began. Around us we saw patrons receive bread and drinks. It took us a while to receive any attention and we never received the bread.
After receiving our food it seemed as if the person who made came to stare at us eat it. He paced back and forth within the restaurant staring at our table, As if we were going run away without paying Very off putting!
The cold stares from the staff made us very uncomfortable, we looked around to see everyone else enjoying their time unabated. We quickly asked for the check and left. Even being hot and bitten by mosquitoes at the restaurant doesn’t compare to the racist treatment. I guess it’s true what people say about Brazil...

My bobó was ok (good but far from great) but was accompanied by parboiled rice (that’s a sin!) instead of the more traditional (and tasty) type. The farofa de dendê was really good though, crunchy and delicious. My caipirinha (caju with capim santo) was tall and full of fruit, but tasted too sweet and lacked punch. My wife’s (tangerine ginger spearmint - or something like that) tasted way better (she ordered no sugar) but also lacked punch. She ordered grilled octopus which looked good, but I didn’t tried it to...
Read moreWe ate here twice during our trip to Rio de Janeiro, as this restaurant was recommended by a friend. It turned out to be our favourite restaurant in Brazil. The space is big and a bit like a greenhouse, there’s plenty of staff and service is speedy. The food was amazing. The only downside is that there’s very few toilets, so when it’s busy you might have to wait a bit.
On our last day in Brazil, after a time consuming mishap with a taxi, we hopped in for a quick drink before heading to the airport. Our server, Antono Carlos, was really fast and attentive as we only had limited time there. We were even able to...
