17 Feb 2019. Nice location on the square. Sat outside in a comfortable seat. Service a little slow but they were very busy and turning customers away. Great place to people watch. The veal burger was very pleasant in a beetroot bread roll with hot potato crisps rather than chips. No condiments on table. Leffe blond beer on draft was good. Would have had a coffee to round off but too long a wait. Meal, beer and bottled sparkling water came to 21.89 BGN Lev so by comparison was not particularly inexpensive. That said it was less than £10 so given that the beer alone would have cost £4.50 in the UK the meal was worth the cost. Would I visit again? Yes.
And, yes, I did return tonight 19 Feb 2019. This time inside the restaurant at a quiet time. Positives first: lovely comfortable seating, very good decor and lighting. Clean and tidy. Staff very presentable: the same male female combo I had when lunching outside a few days ago. Toilet very clean. Excellent selection of drinks. Ordered a mixed salad as a starter - it was not a starter, it was a full blown meal with masses of leaves, deep fried cheese parcels, apple slices and the most incredible blueberry dressing (a new one for me). Very, very tasty. Next were meatballs with BBQ sauce and fried potatoes. Three meatballs were in fact three almost quarter pound burgers. Obviously not produced on site but still very good. Too dense to have been hand produced (slight negative here). Sauce very mild, heavy on honey but pleasant. Here now is the only real negative: fried potatoes were softish and not crispy as they should have been. They were good and plentiful but should have had more crunch. Tried two deserts and both were well proportioned, nicely presented and flavoursome. Overall a good experience and would be happy to explore more of the menu - maybe I will in the next three days. Struggling to understand why so empty. I will update further when the bill arrives.
OK, I was there for three hours so that should give a clue. Staff do not pressure you.
Just left and no complaints. Live guitarist and pianist under-appreciated in my opinion. I clapped; no one else bothered. Bill came to £43 but I did have numerous Leffe beers and very generous measures of 12 year old single malt. Good value.
The cleanliness was excellent: sparkling glasses, no residue around the oil or balsamic vinegar, no fingerprints on the salt and pepper pots. Real attention to detail when laying table.
Upstairs decor very impressive with high ceilings and projected images on the walls. Different experiences depending upon the floor you choose so try both. I totally recommend this restaurant and give it four and...
Read moreThis restaurant holds dear memories for me because 5 years ago we held our wedding party here. But it isn't what it used to be.
Today we visited and it was incredibly disappointing. We were the only table in the restaurant. The waitresses were more interested in chatting to each other than watching our table. We had to get up from the table constantly to receive service. The waitress even forgot our wine.
The meal cost twice as much as any other we had in Plovdiv but the service is so below the standard for a fine dining restaurant, or any kind or restaurant. Each time we visit, the service and food get worse. Unfortunately, this will be my last visit to Atlas.
The food was also disappointing. What used to be fresh, delicious produce turned into delightful dishes is now lacking. The tuna salad was fairly standard. It was just all very...
Read moreThey brought us a spoiled crème brûlée which tasted and looked very off. When we raised this with the waiter and kindly asked them to check, they said they used too much lemon juice on that one, but that they'll take it back and bring another one. They then brought an unspoiled one that tasted and looked fine. No apology, nothing complimentary, just a lame excuse. We were low-key hoping we won't go down with food poisoning. The overpriced lemonades are just prefab sirup with tap water that they don't even stir properly before bringing it to you, so the sirup sits at the bottom and you're drinking basically tap water. The rest of what we ordered was decent. Overall very high price, fancy...
