Hemingway Restaurant — Restaurant in Plovdiv

So to start my review I would say everything was nice. Service was good, OK. Waiter had nice suggestions and was friendly and neat. Starting with the salads - they are not great. I mean they are described quite apetizig however the execution is mneh. But it is delicious and veggies were fresh. We ordered one home salad, one plate of starters and the carpaccio. All was good and yum. Then we had a ribeye stake, the ribs and the beef cheeks with mushrooms and truffles. Everything was really delicious. And congratulations to the steak. It was very tender. The desert was also really nice - chocolate mint cheese cake and fruit cake. Both very nice. If we have to compare price to portions I would say they are a bit high. The restaurant was noisy and people were trying to outscream the music which is live. We sat right by the singers and it was very nice girl had a heavenly voice. Very mellow and soft.

So far so good - good food good music good wine and desserts.

Till few ours later when one of us puked his guts out. Very very ill and unpleasant. Because we thought he was sick. On the morning another one of us has diarrhea.... Uh-oh must've been something we ate. And we ate only there. So we decided to call in and let them know about it. And guess what they started the blame game - must've been the carpaccio because it's delivered to us from Sofia. We are sorry we'll let the delivery company know. We are sorry you had such a bad experience. Thank you bye... LMAO! Really?! No taking the fault no compensation or just any gesture of empathy - just thanks for the call ... Jesus we paid 200+ leva for food and poisoning we could've gotten for a 5lv kebab... Really?! Very disappointing service afterwards.

So yes - I would recommend the restaurant however ask them what's cooked there and what's delivered from Sofia or other cities, because you might get poisoned from bad delivery.

But hey it's not their fault they'll let the delivery...

Here’s what we enjoyed: • Grilled vegetable salad with a slice of cheese – warm, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. • Green salad with avocado, strawberries, and nuts – refreshing, light, and full of vibrant flavors. • Classic Shopska salad – generously topped with shredded white cheese and made with incredibly fresh vegetables. • Spinach patties served with fresh greens and a light sauce – delicious, well-seasoned, and a great vegetarian option. • Homemade burger with crispy potatoes – juicy, well-prepared, and served with a tasty dip. • Tagliatelle with ragu – rich, hearty, and full of comforting Italian flavor. • And the star of the meal – Chicken Hemingway – tender chicken breast served over velvety mashed potatoes, with mushrooms and a delicate pepper sauce. Absolutely divine!

🌟 The service was excellent—fast, polite, and attentive without being intrusive. 🍷 The ambiance is tasteful and relaxing. Even the plates are artistic and elevate the dining experience. 🪑 The atmosphere is calm and cozy, perfect for a casual lunch, romantic dinner, or special occasion.

📍One of the best restaurants in Plovdiv. I will definitely come back—and bring friends. Good food is meant to be shared!

My husband and I had an amaaaazing time!!!!

It didn't start great though... we arrived without booking at 8:40pm and asked if "it would be possible to have a table for two, outside" to which the girl at the front of house simply said " NO". I chose to overlook this and asked whether there would be a table available later (I think this is what a front of house should offer without me inviting myself). She with displeasure dragged her feet 2m to get her pad, and asked me "what time". I asked her what time she thinks she would have a table ready. We agreed for 9:30, and my husband and I went for a drink around the corner on the square.

All changed when we arrived at 9:30. Front of house Girl was nowhere to be seen, thank god, and was replaced by a lovely, charming and smiley middle aged man who's waiting skills could not be faulted, Only embraced (we left 8eur/15lev tip, as we had the greatest time!!)

The food was amazing, service flawless, everything arrived super quick and we didn't feel rushed. We had two tomato bruschettas, both a bit different on lovely sourdough, two salads (too big for starter but oh my they were tasty so we tried!). Then H had a pork main he though he won't finish but said it was so good he could eat it twice, I had risotto, yum umm! Total came to 35eur/70lev, inc. Daiquiri, large glass of red and large beer, so it was one of the most affordable best dinners we have had. Super impressed, would come...
