Ресторант "Къщата с часовника" — Restaurant in Sofia City

We ate there a couple of times, a multicultural group, people from several countries, visiting Sofia for a week. The first time it was great, but the second one the experience was totally different. The food was still good, but the waitress looked tired and not too eager to help. She clearly missed when we mentioned at the beginning that we wanted to pay separately, and that became a problem at the end: some of us wanted to pay cash, others with cards. After some back and forth I just asked her to call the manager so we could figure out a solution (to an otherwise simple problem). The manager was very rude. Despite we tried to communicate in English and Russian (and Spanish), she said "you are in Bulgaria and you must speak Bulgarian" (!!). Fortunately a waiter who spoke English intervened and diffused the absurd situation (and we paid separately!). It is a pity that a rude manager spoiled the experience of an overall nice place. Lesson learned: in Sofia you better insist in advance if you want to...

For sure the food does not worth the price given. Will not recommend and will not visit again.

GOOD: Barely the only thing I can mention is - the location and the place is nice... The water is good ;) BAD: Food. For sure does not worth the price given. We had a dinner for two ordering - king's shrimps which looked nice but were... tasteless; pork steak - was not delicious and tasted bit strange; a salad with tomatoes and eggplant - nothing special; a salad with goat cheese - relatively good but I have tasted much better goat cheese. The bread was not baked enough. Service - the waiters are not adding to the nice athmosphere, something I would expect from this class of a restaurant. The same service I will get in a local pub. Had to wait for the bill for more...

Bad, dont go.

Let me start with what's not awful: the garden. It is kinda cozy even though the renovation took away the authenticity of the building.

Now, what I really disliked is the service. We were 6 people, and honestly, we were left alone waiting multiple times for more than 30 minutes even though I tried to call the waiter. They were also incompetent when it came to the wine selection and not really welcoming.

The food was also very bad. For those prices, it should be at least tasty. No, it was tasteless. That is on top of the fact that I spent a lot of time trying to find something actually edible on the menu.

I m never going back again. Selling set Shopska salad under another name for double the regular price is not...
