To start with I was basically pursued to go and have a brunch at the place because I have been told that it is one of THE places you must visit in Sofia. It’s iconic and the reviews are fantastic. It’s a place where you could order rather traditional Bulgarian brunch served in a very pretty way and most of the things on the menu seem to be tasty by the reviews I read. The service was great, atmosphere definitely on the hipstery side of it but I guess that’s the style and in my opinion it suits the brand. Liked the little touches in the interior. The cactuses and music, old power outlets, polaroid photos hanging, fishbone wooden floor and small tiles for the counter.
My order consisted of three meals. Pork Sandwich, Chicken Tortillas and cold cucumber soup (Pasiran Tarator).
The Pork Sandwich with orange sauce and homemade mayo with wasabi and lime. The size of the sandwich itself and the amount of meat and veggies was more than enough. It was definitely fresh but in my opinion the homemade mayo and the orange sauce don’t really go along rather well and the taste gets kinda sour when mixed. The vegetables and pork were also too salted which again is just not my taste. 3,5/5
Chicken Tortillas Well to put it bluntly, definitely not the best. The veggies were good, quite liked the carrots and the humus mouse was okay but the chicken was seasoned terribly it was super salty, hard and chewy. Had maybe two or three bites before just putting it on the side and trying to wash the salty taste with the Tarator. 2/5
The puréed Cucumber cold soup (Tarator) with ginger, walnuts and mint.
It was AMAZING. I love Tarator, it is one of my favourite dishes and honestly I was not disappointed rather quite the opposite. I wasn’t expecting it to be so much of my taste that I would definitely go again and order. The mix of the ingredients was perfect, the consistency of the yogurt was the exact amount, it was cold but not to the point where it hurts your throat. The right amount of everything. The mint is a great touch it gives it freshness and it makes it a great meal during the hot days. Worth it 100%. 5/5
Overall I don’t want to mislead people with my review it’s my personal experience and my taste, some might agree and some might not. For me it’s a place I am glad I visited and probably won’t be coming too often. But it’s a place I would take someone who hasn’t been and get a taste for themselves and see an iconic place in Sofia.

Read moreWent there on a sunday morning and found ourselves lucky to get a table. The restaurant isn't really located in the center of Sofia, but rather a secondary street. It's reputation is well deserved, since all baked meals were delicious. The venue is small, and all these things combined makes this a busy place.
First, we had the Mekitsi. Dutch tourists will recognize this traditional dish as "een oliebol", which is mainly eaten as a new year's tradition there. The only difference is that these are flat. The syrup-like jam is a great topping. The cheese not so much, but that's a matter of personal taste.
We ordered the tabouleh, and although the taste was perfect, we had to leave it since we both thought we'd accidentally had lost fillings while chewing, but it turned out to be in the dish itself. We were stuffed by the time we got to the salad, so didn't bother asking for a replacement. I'm sure it would've been like it should, but this made me rate 4 instead of 5 stars.
We tried both the sweet and the regular Banitsa (if I recall the name correctly). The sweet one was my absolute favorite. I honestly could eat that every day. It was smooth, with a perfect crisp top, and glazed with a superb sugary coating. Loved it.
Also, when you're there... Try the home...

First the positives; food was ok, quickly made to order and served hot.
But the negatives outweigh the positives; dreadful music playing loud (subjective I know, others may/will love the music), no decaf coffee despite an extensive and exotic coffee menu. But by far the biggest negative was, in full view of myself and my wife, the staff had some ‘down time’ between customers and spent it huddled together sampling a number of ingredients on display that will make up the meals and sandwiches for the future customers for the rest of the day. We saw ungloved fingers repeatedly dipping into the salad ingredient pots, a (m) kitchen staff team member dipping a finger into a sauce and then licked. But the worst was the two (f) servers who each repeatedly used a spoon to sample two different ingredient pots, they then ate the contents straight from the spoon and then returned the spoon into the pots for some more on countless occasions. One of the two pots in question (it looked like smashed avocado) went back in the rack on display to be used straight away, the other was wrapped in cling-film and put in a fridge for future use.
Due to the lack of basic food hygiene, we cannot...
