what can i say? Disappointed
Good things first before saying something negative: they are very sweet and nice Food was tasty and good Place look very clean
My bad experience:
When i got there, They gave me a nice table inside. After some minutes they mixed up my order but that wasnt a problem they apologize and i waited with no problem at all.
When the food arrived i had the food on my mouth first bite and the guy asked me if i can move outside cause a big family was coming. There were other tables too with one or 2 persons but they didnt asked them. I accepted and moved to the outside then after one minute another couple came to the restaurant and the same guy without asking me told them to seat in my table. There was another table at my side with a white woman who wasnt eating and inside another 2 tables with enough space for them but they didnt wanted to bothered the other people.
Then i asked for a soda a the girl came 2 times to the table with their drinks (that they ordered after i did) and not mine. Also when i asked for the bill because i was uncomfortable she came to the table another 2 times with their order and not the bill.
Was very uncomfortable for me. Never happened to me before but i felt really disrespected.
Also they were giving some stickers to all the people but not me hahaha and i was very nice and comprehensive when i was there to not bother other clients 🥲
Aaaaand like the cherry on the cake - the bill was wrong. My main dish in the menu was $3.50 and they charged $3.75 and i only paid ...
Read moreThat was such a beautiful experience in Cambodia! We have had many cooking classes before in Asia, but Coconut Lyly is one of our favourites. First of all, you don’t only get food and recipes. You get a chance to learn more about the culture, everyday life of people living here, what makes them happy, what makes them sad, how different our realities can be. It’s incredibly moving and these talks will stay forever in our hearts, making us reflect on our lives. You also get a very individual treatment during the class - the hosts take care of you, answer many of your questions, pay a lot of attention to hygiene, potential health issues which may disturb your experience, so it’s really nice to be in a place which is still very people-oriented, not commercialized like many others cooking schools.
But most of all, the cooking class was just super fun! A lot of jokes, laughter, flavors, spices and warmth from Lyly, his wife and their beautiful family. We didn’t feel like strangers there - after few minutes they made us feel like a part of their community and it was so, so great!
After eating all the stuff we had cooked, we could barely move, no food needed until next day. Very, very fair portions and service for the price paid.
Highly recommended and I would love to come back again to this place filled with love, laughter and flavor. Go and...
Read moreWe participated at the cooking class and it was amazing! As we were only 2 people, we were allowed to choose the dishes ourselves and we decided to go for fish amok, beef lok lak and the green mango salad. Additional to that, you can choose one dessert. The beef lok lak was the best one we have eaten in Cambodia so far and all the other dishes were amazing as well! It was possible to leave out ingredients like milk/egg or make the dishes vegetarian, if we wanted to.
We had the most amazing day with the cooking class - it takes place in the restaurant facilities and everything is clean and comfy. The cooking instructor and lyly were super nice, spoke good English and also told us much about Cambodian culture in general. Therefore, we have absolutely nothing to complain!
The cooking class was 15$/pP and included a visit of the local market, 4 dishes as mentioned above, free water and a recipe book as pdf and as print. We can’t recommend the cooking class enough! You must do it when in Battambang!!
We did the booking via email and it was super easy - you can find the E-Mail on TripAdvisor - Lyly...
