We booked to do the cooking class at 3pm, everything started of fine being taken to the market but upon returning the environment was very hostile. We were ignored for around 15 minutes whilst the owner was on his phone. When we finally began the class there was barely a word spoken and nothing explained, he even walked away during the beginning and stood just staring out onto street completely uninterested in us or taking the cooking ‘class’, this was unlike any cooking class we have done around other countries in Asia. The experience gave off a very unwelcoming attitude. The food we were making was even taken away from us and whilst the owner redone our work without an explanation. The other man, who I’m assuming was his cooking partner mentioned in other reviews, walked past staring at us but failed to speak or introduce himself. Me and my partner didn’t even make it past the rolling of the spring rolls when we decided to leave as it was highly uncomfortable. The owner seemed unbothered by this and gave the impression that he was completely unmotivated to conducted his cooking ‘classes’ which is a shame reading the previous...
Read moreAn absolute incredible night with Toot & his family in their family restaurant. Toot kindly invites guests into his kitchen to become chefs for the night in their cooking lessons. For only $15 it is absolutely incredible. First we was taken to the local market to pick up fresh ingredients for our meal & was given a lesson on local produce by his Son, Canon. He spoke amazing english, was engaging & very happy to ask questions. We then went back to the restaurant to start our cooking lessons. The quality of ingredients offered was unbelievable for the cost of the lesson. Beautiful fresh spices, meat, fish & even utensils were unmatched. This place is the cleanest kitchen I’ve seen throughout Asia. The family is truly proud of their restaurant & it shows. We was taken step by step each step for each course. Everything made by hand down to the littlest detail. I cannot recommend Toots restaurant & his cooking class enough. Absolutely amazing. You should be so proud of your...
Read moreRecently, I had the pleasure of dining at Nary Kitchen in Battambang for a late lunch. I indulged in two exquisite dishes: fried noodles with chicken, and a red curry with pork. The meals were outstanding, brimming with flavor that echoed the warmth and authenticity of home cooking, a quality that's becoming increasingly rare in the world these days.
The restaurant exuded a familial atmosphere that was further amplified by the owner's hospitality. He is a multilingual gentleman fluent in English, French, and Khmer, who relocated from Kampot to Battambang years ago. His wife, Nary, the chef behind the delightful dishes, also extended her warm welcome.
Their combined efforts have transformed the restaurant into a haven that feels like home. I discovered this place through its glowing reviews on Trip Advisor, and my experience validates every bit of praise. Nary Kitchen truly deserves recognition for its exceptional culinary offerings and...
