We recently stayed in Siem Reap for 4 days and nights and enjoyed a handful of meals at restaurants around the city centre, including a very good meal at Golden Pumpkin along Ta Phul Street. Opening hours are 10am to 10pm daily.
The restaurant is decorated nicely with a deep orange colour, perhaps influencing or related to the name of the restaurant. Seating is fine with quite a few tables under fans. Outer tables have views to the street. Service was friendly and attentive during our meal. Most importantly, food quality was above average and prices very reasonable.
During our meal we enjoyed the Spring Rolls, Khmer Red Curry and Fried Rice w/ hot basil and pork served with an egg. All three dishes were attractive, presentable and made with fresh, good ingredients. We were happy with the taste of all three. We also found the banana shake and lime juice to be very good.
In the end, this was a quality lunch and easily the best value for money meal we had during this meal in Siem Reap. The entire meal above was just US$9.5 for two people. We would happily return to eat at Golden Pumpkin again the next time we are...
Read moreThe staff here were lovely! Very attentive and friendly.
The restaurant was clean and nice toilet.
We had a big group and the food took quite awhile to come. They mentioned something about there only being limited space in the kitchen?? 2 hours is a long time to wait. ⚠️ TIP ⚠️ So I would not come here with a big group. And I would get them to take food orders before drinks so they can get going on the food first.
There are only 6 menus, so that also takes some time for a big group to look at...and then menu is extensive!!
The food itself was delightfully presented, the quantity was generous and the taste good. The price was also good!
The milkshake I got was watery, but the fruit drinks sounded like the group liked them. Mango shake was a winner!
They did have a camera set up in the corner videoing us tho which was a bit odd...especially as they never asked...
Read moreI visited Pumpkin café after stumbling upon it on TripAdvisor. The name immediately caught my attention, and to my surprise, they actually have a signature dish related to it — pumpkin soup served in a real pumpkin with garlic croutons. The presentation is simply amazing, I’ve never seen anything like it, and the taste is just magical.
The café has fans that keep you cool on a hot day, making the experience even more comfortable. I also tried the banana smoothie with cocoa — it was delicious and refreshing. It turns out this is a chain café, and they have a branch in Siem Reap, which I’ll be reviewing separately (spoiler: it’s just as good). But being part of a chain doesn’t make it any less cozy or homely.
I highly recommend this place, and you absolutely must try the pumpkin soup — it’s an...
