Bamboo Palace — Restaurant in Abbotsford

Not sure why this place is given such good reviews when it comes to the food. I guess since Abbotsford lacks in restaurants you don't go by much to base it off of. The chicken chow mein was bleh. Not bad but not good. Same goes for the chicken fried rice. They also use what appears to be sandwich chicken meat (like the slices) cut up and tossed in their. The hot and sour soup though full of all the veggies, tofu, egg and shrimp which was great but it tasted more like hot and sweet soup -.- no matter how much hot sauce i threw in at home the sweetness took over. The soup also had that odd chicken. I also had the crispy ginger chicken. Now this had great texture and would have been amazing also if it were what the menu claimed, spicy. It was actually sweet. That being said it was still good but a total let down as my mom and I were in mood of some crispy spicy ginger chicken. The portion size is great for what you spend, the staff is also very nice and pleasant. I haven't lived in abby for long and thought i would have some chinese tonight. Well one of the items i ordered (egg foo young) was absolutely terrible! Complete waste of money i would have been better off eating the cash than the food. Customer service and respect??? Not here not over the phone. Told rgem in all my 50 years of eatibg Chinese food ive never had this iem withour sauce. Tasted like a cracked cooked in water omelette. I said politely id i cant have a refund a credit would do and i would give them another try for possible years of my patronage. Well after being put on hold 3 times while discussed it and told no and then told said she couldn't do anything because manager wasn't there, i said would it be better to call in the morning then? And suddenly the manager came on phone and stayed no way no refund no credit!! Well thanks bamboo palace fir giving me the opportunity to warn other customers on your etiquette when dealing with an issue and tonsay dint order the foo young not worth it hopefully you don't have an issue with anything to do with your food you'll pretty much be told to suck it up...

Love their dry garlic pork. There is so much garlic on them that they sometimes kinda burn your tongue but I love garlic so ya... From what I could tell, it was clean, no dirty tables or anything like that and all the kitchen staff were wearing the proper hairnets and one guy had a beard net on! It was kinda funny but I was also glad that he was wearing it. Especially for beards because the hair on the top of your head is straight or if it's curly, it's alot finer than facial hair. It's kinda gross, but I would much rather have a hair from the top of someone's head on my food than a beard hair. In my opinion beard hairs look pretty much identical to ahem... the hair that is found much lower on your body so just having that thought In my head, I would freak if I found a facial hair on my food. I would leave and never come back as opposed to returning my food and making them replace it and give me a refund but, I digress, back to the review.
