O HOW THE MIGHTY HAVE FALLEN
I wrote the below review some time back ( under fantastic food)and have loved this places food, that was till the new owner or management took over.
Decided to treat my family tonight to Hong Dynasty, we were all excepted as we loved getting our dinner from here.
Ordered bbq pork was all fat with little to no meat
Honey pork over cooked and dry so much so that a dry martini would be wetter than this honey pork.
Beef and green bean salty as all hell and the beans looked like they should have been put into the compost ( is where I sent them)
House special fried rice again dry no flavour and clumped together
Chicken chow mein first what chicken and again no flavour
For a total cost of 69.05 for one of the worst meals I have had In A long time. Have to say this is a sad day for abbotsford as they were the last restaurant that made really good Chinese food that was till today.. Hate to say it people stay away, food SUXS and not to sure on the health of this place as well, think an inspector needs to go look at this place now as it’s run down, more so than before.
Sad sad sad day, good bye Hong dynasty it was great while it lasted shut down now ur food is not worth it.
Old review 😭 FANTASTIC FOOD......
All, It’s been a long time since I have been able to write a review with a good out come, sorry change that to a Great outcome.
We wanted to get some take out tonight and went to our normal place ( not going to mention there name as they suck the big one now).
So for some time we have seen this little red shop Hong Dynasty and thought one day we have to try it out. Well tonight was the night, as the place we normally go to was to busy ( no one in There) but they had to fix there debit machine and could not acknowledge us so we left.
Wife remembered this place so we called and placed an order.
We had the house special fried rice yum yum, Chicken chow mein Honey garlic pork And Beef & broccoli
All was sooooo goood
Well what a meal from start to finish plus seconds, I had it was heaven, broccoli crunchy, honey garlic pork was the best I have ever had. Only thing I would say to them is back off the mushrooms in there fried rice( but I hate mushrooms) so never want them in my food, haha.
People first time I have found a restaurant in Abbotsford that I want to rave about. Go, go, go try this place.
It is not really a sit down but go get some food and...
Read moreAs a chinese food fan, I have to say I think I've officially found my favourite takeout place (sorry Bamboo Palace!) I went to this place just to try it out, and a few months later, I'm still coming back a few times a week.
First, the food is very hot and fresh, and tastes absolutely fantastic. I've tried every item on the lunch combo menu. My favourite is chicken chow mein, sweet and sour pork/chicken balls, veggie chop suey, and the egg roll.
The chicken chow mein is the best I've ever had from any chinese restaurant that I've ever tried, and I've tried a lot. All the other takeout places only give you the noodles and bean sprouts with their lunch combo chow mein, no meat, but Hong Dynasty actually lets you choose chicken or pork chow mein. The vegetables in the chop suey are cooked to perfection! this is not easy to do as the onions, broccoli, bok choi, and carrots are all different in hardness, yet it never fails to amaze me how they are all with the perfect crunch, yet fully cooked. And the egg roll tastes amazing too.
In terms of portions, you will not get more food in any other take-out place PERIOD! The takeout lunch box is always absolutely STUFFED and if you dare attempt to try and finish it all in one sitting, you will find it hard to walk for the rest of the day. You can get 2 meals out of 1 lunch combo of 3 items easily.
In terms of price, this is the best-priced lunch combo that I've ever visited. 3 items cost $5.25 tax included. 2 items cost $4.20 tax included. As a comparison, a Dragon Fort 3 item lunch combo costs $6.73. Jasmine Garden 3 item lunch combo costs over $7 for a lot less food.
I've attached some pictures of all the items on the lunch menu (other than egg foo yung).
Hong Dynasty is not so much an eat-in place, more of a take-out place, although they do have 2 tables if you really want to eat in. Give them a try, you won't be...
Read moreIf you want great value for your dollar combined with good Chinese food then Hong Dynasty will fill the bill. It's a take-out business which has temporarily halted deliveries due to Covid-19. The portions are large so only order if you're really hungry. It appears to be a family business and the daughter who runs the front is very pleasant. I left my previous comments up to show the difference since the new owners took over this year (2021). I had previously given this place a five star review but the new owners have very different policies. They increased their prices by 10% and reduced their quantities dramatically. I always orders their Combo F (Chow mien, Sweet and sour pork and Almond Chicken). The quantity of S&S pork was down by about 50% and the Almond Chicken which used to be 12 pieces is now 4 pieces. And this is with an increase of 10% in prices!!! I would not recommend ordering from these new owners because you'll be...
