Pretty disappointed with this cafe as we are staying at the resort and would have been here every morning. The coffee from the carafe was warm at best at 10am. My wife ordered a Cookies and Cream smoothie, which ended up actually being just a blended frozen ice cream sandwich, ice cubes, and a scoop of protein. The barista had to add water in because the blender couldn't actually mix it, then proceeded to pour it out of the blender all over the sides of the cup and counter. $20 for a blended ice cream sandwich and coffee. There was also no one else in line at the time, so the staffing issues that the owner keeps referring to in these reviews doesn't really apply. Also, as referenced in other reviews, the hours posted both online and on notices throughout the Stoneridge resort are not accurate at all. Never given below a 4 star review before, but this place was ridiculous.
Edit: After seeing the owners response I wish I had never given them my business at all and I feel bad for anyone that works for them as they are constantly thrown under the bus. The owner deflects any blame in a review going back years either blaming incompetent staff, the customer, or stating how the review must be invalid because their food is the best. I specifically alluded to the issue not being staffing in my review and they still chose to blame the employee. It's really disappointing that such a beautiful resort is connected to this establishment.
If you happen to be in the Canmore area and want to support local, I suggest visiting Craigs Way Station for breakfast, and Sheepdog Brewing or Wild Life...
Read moreThis is the absolute worst run place we’ve ever set foot into. 30 minutes for two breakfast wraps. The customer ahead of us waited 30 minutes for a breakfast sandwich on a grilled English muffin. The level of inefficiency of the staff making the hot food was astounding. Two employees making wraps and sandwiches from pre made ingredients. The eggs and bacon are not made to order, they are spooned onto the carb of choice. The spinach on our wraps was not sautéed… words cannot explain how bad this place is. When my wife finally got up to say something the owner interjected with “we are busy…” they did have a 6 top to go, and I would expect to wait maybe ten minutes, not 30. Again a level of inefficiency that makes one believe the owner does not care about his customers. Well, any customers that are not regulars. The customer ahead of us was on obvious regular and via food came out in about five minutes. Anyway, terrible service and we will never return. Edit:As I can only reply by editing I can add that we had an amazing afternoon meal at the Iron Goat, great service, good food, and overall a pleasant experience. We will return there. So, our negativity might have had something to do with the terrible experience we had at your establishment. I love supporting mom and pop shops, leaving a negative review for them is not my favorite thing to do, but sir your establishment deserved the review and my view is the same...
Read morePoor customer service and engagement with customers. While waiting for our order one of the female employees with glasses constantly complained about a mobile order and how the person had not shown up yet to pick it up. Anytime someone came in to the cafe she would yell at them asking if they had made a mobile order and if they hadn’t would sigh heavily and roll her eyes. Visibly distraught and overwhelmed - the employee made us feel very uncomfortable while waiting for our order to be prepared. The person who made the mobile order eventually did come in to pick it up. For future orders I would recommend writing down customer phone numbers to keep track.
Another customer arrived and wanted to order a cup of milk- when told how much it would be they were not happy with the price and chose to no longer order. The same female employee above said out loud ‘this isn’t a grocery store’ and proceeded to complain about said customer.
After leaving the cafe we noticed that an 18 % tip had been added to our bill without a prompt on the machine. When we called the cafe to rectify the issue(ie get a refund /credit) we were thanked for the tip and then hung up on by a male employee. We weren’t complaining about the price of anything( we spent over 100$) but we felt an automatic 18% tip for a takeout order was absurd.
Food was pretty good. But just can’t get over the service we had. We do not recommend this...
