this is your typical Dairy Queen (Treat)... but what made my visit OUTSTANDING was the staff there at the time.
I went to the store last Thursday, I believe it was and the debit machine was "down" just as I got there. I told the staff (3 teenaged kids) I would wait a bit for my order and see if the owner was able to get it back online. So I waited patiently for about 5 minutes and then told the kids , Thanks but I was going to go.
Just then, one of the girls says "we'll give you your 'Blizzard' FREE" . I thanked them for it (thinking it might have been store policy to do that).... took my treat and went for a stroll.
When I finished I went back in to the store and asked if the debit was working. ... it was. I took out my card to pay and the kid who had told me it was free said, "It's too late, WE ALREADY PAID FOR IT WITH OUR TIPS" .
WHAAAAT? Who does that? Now it was only $4.20, but it was the act of kindness that they showed me ( a complete stranger ) which was amazing!. I drove down the street and took some money from the ATM. I went ack to the store and gave them $10. They didn't want to accept it.... saying something to the effect that it wasn't necessary. ... saying they didn't mind. But I think even the smallest of gestures like this FREEBIE they gave me should be acknowledged.
Now I don't know where this kids developed such values (home? wok? or wherever?) but I would say to Lavern (the owner) how lucky he is to have staff that care about his customers! I should have got the names of those kids to thank them personally...but I hope that they will read this and know how much I...

I offered to pay for the sprinkles and they still refused. Poor customer service, left with 2 small children in tears because we couldn’t purchase sprinkles for their grandpas birthday cake.
Next time I’ll go to Kawartha Dairy...
Read moreThis is the worst dairy queen I've ever been too. Absolutely no customer service and my blizzard was completely melted and wasn't flipped, service was horrible, the cashier had their arm up on the cashier the entire time and when I mentioned that they said it's their comfort, yeah well my comfort would be to receive proper customer service.
After complaining to the staff all they did was make excuses, saying the syrup for the strawberry cheesecake makes it really soft, I KNOW FOR A FACT THOSE AREN'T SERVED LIQUID. I would never have served that, especially considering I have worked...
