THE WORST AND RUDE SERVICE IN CANADA AND AROUND THE WORLD
When you read the reviews in the order of low stars, there are some reviews that say they are rude or mad, and those reviews are true.
If you're a solo traveler, I don't recommend visiting. I felt unwelcome in this place.
The basic customer service is terrible. I've experienced worst service, which I have never encountered anywhere else in Canada or the world.
Originally, I planned to buy cookies and pastries as gifts, but after such a disappointing experience, I just ate and left quickly. I think that it’s not polite to give a gift from a place that treats customers like this. I intended to return with friends if the food was good, but now I never won’t go back.
I read Google reviews claiming their eggs Benedict was comparable to a hotel, so I was looking forward to it and spent 1 hour for taking bus and walking in rainy day.
Before my visit, I inquired by phone, and the man who answered was kind.
Upon arriving at the restaurant, I took a picture, and the lady at the counter scolded me, saying, “Did you take photos of my cookies? It’s not allowed!”
There was no clear sign indicating that photography was not allowed. Also, I saw that the owner commented “thanks” to another google review with some photos of the showcase that the breads and pastries are displayed, so I didn’t know it’s not allowed. This was my fault, so I deleted the photo immediately and apologized.
Unfortunately, the rest of the experience was deeply disappointing.
The bistro is very small, with only 3-4 tables. When I arrived, the restaurant was full.
The lady asked if I would be willing to share a table since I was alone and there were no seats available. I replied that I could wait. Then, two guests entered right behind me, and at the same time one table became available.
She asked if I wanted to take my meal to go. I had come a long way by public transport and was looking forward to trying the eggs Benedict in the bistro, so I said again I would wait.
She informed the two guests behind me that a table was available, but since I was there first, they should wait, mentioning I’m just one person. It sounds like she really don’t want to bring me to the table available. The guests told her that they had entered after me and that they could wait.
Despite this, she seemed uncomfortable with me and asked, “Have you decided on your order?” without offering any explanation of the menu, making it clear that taking my order was a bother.
Eventually, I was seated at a table for four, and my food arrived. Shortly after, the two-person table next to me became available. I informed the man who served my food that I would move to that table since I was alone.
Another two tables remained empty until I finished my meal. If those tables were available, why did I have to feel uncomfortable about it?
I felt entirely unwelcome and truly regretted my visit.
She went to every other table “except mine” to ask how their meals were. I felt uncomfortable throughout my meal.
I really wanted to finish my meal and leave. When I went to pay, she simply asked, “Just eggs Benedict?” without inquiring how the food was.
I completed my payment and thanked the chef in the kitchen because I had nothing to thank her for.
This was the first time in my life, after visiting many restaurants, that I felt uncomfortable just for taking a photo or because I was a solo traveler.
While the food is indeed better than at other Banff restaurants, I have no complaints about the taste and am grateful to the chef. However, I completely regret my visit to this place, as I experienced the worst service in Canada and in the world.
(I won’t disclose the price. The menu doesn’t list prices, and asking about them is not encouraged here. If I reveal the price, I fear I might be reported...

This small little bakery was located in an industrial area, but it didnt stop us from coming. Parking was limited, but the owner let us park right in front of the store. I had the most amazing avocado toast of my life. It was covered with a WHOLE avocado, balsamic vingar, fresh goat cheese, sautéed tomatoes, and garnished with herbs. My two friends had egg benedicts with smoked salmon which came with the most flavorful stirfry potatoes i have had. This is a small place and the menu is not complicated at all. 3 breakfast options: avocado toast, egg benedict with salmon or ham, and breakfast sandwich. We ordered the STICKY BUN and CINNAMON BUN to share and they were out of the world amazing. We have had bad baked goods in downtown Banff and so we were very grateful for good baked goods at this place away from the busy town. You have been warned ⚠️, the STICKY BUN will leave you speechless. It is sweet, soft and chewy. Did I mention they also have the best chai tea??? Words cannot explain how amazing it is. Excuse me im drooling as im writing this review. The whole experience was amazing. I felt like I was served comfort food at my neighbors house. Sure this place was not one $ sign cheap, but it was worth every dollar. Someone below me said food was expensive and he/she would rather go to a 4 star hotel... well, his/her highness should have just stayed...

BARE BISTRO isn’t just about great avocado toast. They also cater to VEGETARIAN AND VEGAN DIETS with a delightful selection of dishes on the menu. When my friends and I visited, even the NON-VEGANS in our group were thoroughly impressed with the delicious and creative options available.
Their FRESHLY BAKED PASTRIES are another highlight, adding to the charming and cozy atmosphere of the place. The owner, FEDORA, and her DAUGHTER are incredibly welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you step in. This is the place where TRUE HOSPITALITY is felt, thanks to the chefs' experience from working in HOTELS.
However, take note that BARE BISTRO can get quite BUSY – a testament to how good their food is. So, if you're planning to visit, be prepared for a bit of a wait. But trust me, IT'S WORTH EVERY MOMENT. Make sure to include BARE BISTRO in your itinerary when in Banff – YOU WON'T REGRET IT!
