A&W Canada — Restaurant in Banff

Today I visited this store for breakfast for myself and my family .Not sure why this location is rated 4 stars. Also not sure why their HOO state they open at 6am every day if it will all be closed and gated that nobody can get in. Arrived here at 615am and the main door was locked gates also closed inside . The gas station attendant the. Asked me to enter around back through the convenience store . Went in and called out for help, out comes some dude with cherry red eyes, in whatever English he could put together he said he doesn’t know how to use the till and that the rest of the staff weren’t there yet. Asked him if I was able to at least order through the app, he stood there staring at me like a deer in headlights, and followed up with an “I don’t know”. To me this is not an employee issue, although I hated the interaction. It is POOR MANAGEMENT and extremely POOR STORE OWNERSHIP. What was going to be the pride of fast food in Banff. A&W Banff falls ever so flat. The food is good quality and well prepared which is what the 3 stars are for. But, if you want to have anything added or changed you won't get it. Even when you kindly confirm your additions that any other location would do (as per the app & menu). You may also get some items you didn't order for fun too!

The wait time is adequate, but with that many people in a small space things are bound get a little jumbled. That's where it gets interesting. The expediting of the ordered items is executed very on the fly. Despite having a comprehensive order management system. There are still coffees going to random bystanders and food coming out at random times. Sometimes it's just different parts of the same order.

The app too could use extra help too, as it tells you to go 10 minutes out of town, down the highway and round the houses before it even considers putting your order through for...

I visited the A&W location in Banff and was deeply disappointed by the service. The staff were rude, dismissive, and showed no willingness to assist customers. From the moment I arrived, I felt unwelcome. It was clear that basic service standards and customer care were not a priority at this establishment.

What made the experience even more troubling was the unprofessional conduct of the staff, which included harassment and discriminatory behavior. No customer should ever be made to feel uncomfortable or unsafe, especially in a public dining space. This kind of behavior is not only unacceptable—it reflects poorly on the brand and the management overseeing this location.

I hope A&W corporate takes these concerns seriously and investigates the culture and training at this branch. Banff is a world-renowned destination, and visitors deserve respectful, inclusive, and professional service. Until improvements are made, I cannot recommend this...
