The hotel was conveniently located and clean.
That being said...we had an awful stay. We stayed on the 3rd floor and were put in the room directly kiddie-corner to the elevators and stairs. It was a loft suite...we have a family of 5. We paid nearly 400 for the night. Now I know SOMEONE has to stay by the elevator...nature of hotels. The issue was more about the noise from the other rooms.
The doors to everyone's suites weigh a ton. They are nasty heavy doors that, instead of catching the latch to slow momentum and then "click" closed, CRASH against the door frame with a loud slamming bang every time someone enters or exits their room. Every few minutes (no exaggeration), there would be a SLAM from a door that would echo down the hallway...at all hours in the evening. Relentlessly. No one seemed to give a second thought. Especially those using the stairs. Keeping kids in bed with this going on is tough. Getting sleep after a long day as 2 busy parents...wasn't going to happen. We'd politely tell guests to watch the door but after 2am...wasn't gonna happen. We just put pillows over our ears and tried to deal with it.
Now, normally, we wouldn't make issue. A bad stay is a bad stay. But here's where we need to vent. In the morning I informed the staff at the desk about the door problem. Told them about the stay...figured they should know. "Huh?" Is as what we got. No concern, nada. Looked at me like I was a crazy person (and after a 400/night stay with no sleep...maybe I did come off a little nuts).
They need to fix the latch system on the doors as asking patrons not to leave their rooms at night is nonsense and the doors are going to slam regardless of how polite people might try to be. But most of all, they should apologize to guests who at least voice that the stay was less than stellar. That...
Read moreI stayed with family at this hotel last winter. I booked by directly calling the hotel number. I booked 3 rooms for my family members as well as relatives. I was told that the rooms windows facing towards the main road for all three rooms and rate for these rooms was higher than rooms window facing towards the backside parking. I booked rooms windows facing front side main road with higher price. When we actually reached there, we were offered rooms with windows facing back side parking. I told that we are not getting rooms that we booked. The front dest guy, Harry told that they don't have any other rooms. While asking about the cost he said that he can not do anything about cost and I have to speak with manager next morning at 9 am. Since everything in the town was booked, we were not having any other option other than accepting the rooms provided. Next day Manager didn't show up until 10:30 am (I don't know if he willingly wanted to ignore or avoid us). When he arrived he started speaking rudely with me. He didn't accept his/his booking guy's mistake and said that he can not do anything. He was speaking so rudely that it was very difficult to convince him about their own mistake. I told that I am going to write review online about this bad experience. He said that that I can write anything I want "I don't care". These were his words. He insulted me and my family in front of everybody. We left the hotel with very bad experience and worst customer service. I am writing this review for the benefit of other travellers. If you are traveling Banff, never book this hotel and in case you book, be ready for the...
Read moreAbsolutely horrible experience at the Banff Inn. The employee's are VERY rude and unprofessional! We booked a king suite room with a balcony, the bathroom looked like it was from the 1970's and the balcony was so small you couldn't stand on it without touching the outside wall. We were then asked if we would like to upgrade rooms witch would cost us another $60 on top of the already crazy $270 a night room. We had to wait almost an hour for this room to be cleaned and it wasn't anything special, still no balcony. The breakfast in the morning sucked as well. To top it all off, when we went to check out, we were first charged for the original room ($270), which the counter employee canceled on the debit machine because she noticed it was the wrong amount. She then charged me the correct amount. When we left the hotel I check our bank account and they had put through BOTH of the room charges!! I went back to the hotel to tell them about this and they were extremely rude and said it was not their fault. I phoned my bank and they will reverse the funds in 5 business days, only once they can verify the funds back from the hotel! So because the hotel did this I am out of $270 for 5 business days, if I even ever see the money back at all. Needless to say, I would never go back to this hotel and would not...
