Clean, comfortable, and casual. After spending a week at the Canalta Lodge booked through SkiBig3 I can say it’s a great base camp for a trip to Banff. Rooms - we booked a double queen. It is spacious with comfortable beds and nice lodge styling. It had an oversized fridge plus microwave. With a luxury nespresso machine. The bathroom was on the small size but completely functional. It had a side chair but lacked a couch which is my preference when staying for a week. Amenities - we used the hot tubs twice. They are well maintained and finished nicely. The outdoor space is nice with a hot sauna and cold plunge pool. Plenty of seating with multiple fireplaces. S’mores available every afternoon. The indoor common area included a large dining area and bar that was open for coffee in the AM and drinks/snacks in the afternoon. Breakfast- The breakfast was typical hotel fare. Same menu everyday. Parking - Spacious, easy to access parking with two elevators to guest areas. Guest coin laundry is available on this level along with ski storage. Location - the hotel is located on the northeast side of the town which is about a 1.5 km walk to shopping and dinning. We drove and parked after a long day of skiing. Why not a five star review? For skiers I would have preferred the following. 1. Hooks in the room to hang my gear like jackets, ski pants, and helmets. 2. Ski lockers with heaters or dryers. The lockers are in the parking area which is quite dirty due to road cinders. The lockers were off a room that appeared to be a break room with chairs and tables instead of a room with benches to boot up. When I asked about lockers the desk said that I would need to ask in the morning about the locking instructions (?) so I didn’t explore further. If I was using the shuttle I would have preferred this area to be off the main floor near the gym. Having a dedicated, clean, and organized place to gear up is five star. 3. Breakfast - some variety from day to day would have been nice. Some cut fruit. Meats and cheeses possibly. Vary the hot items every other day.

Stayed for a week in September 2023. The hotel is clean and well presented and our room was a good size, though hard to get the lighting right as was no 'main light' just lamps so it was a bit dark at times, and then during the night there was always a bright glow from the air con panel! Breakfast buffet is included in the price and was well stocked with a nice variety, so you didn't have to eat the same thing every day of your stay. Laundry facility was nice to have but a small room and only one working washer when we stayed, so a bit touch and go on whether you could use - also reception didn't have change available when we asked. Fitness centre was well kitted out, didn't realise at first but it's not accessible with your room key so you need to ask for a key from reception, not a problem though as there always seemed to be someone available. Reception staff were all super friendly and helpful, a joy to deal with. Happy Camper café/bar - we only had coffee, which was good, though on one occasion it took about 10-15 minutes to track down the staff member who should have been there. We never got around to using the hot tubs but they were never too busy, and the outside area is very nice. We enjoyed the s'mores station (after bringing in our own vegetarian marshmallows) and fire pits, when turned on. The location was great for us, right on Banff Avenue and though one of the furthest lodgings out of town on that road it was still easily walkable to the shops, restaurants and river. Close to bus stops for Roam Transit too. Overall a really nice place to stay, and made a good base for our Banff adventures. I would say there was a noticeable difference in housekeeping services from day to day, in terms of quality and what was done/which items were refreshed/replaced.

First off before our visit that started last week I was reading some reviews about the breakfast area, the weak coffee and tea,the overcrowding at the hot tubs, the partying and noise..it’s all true. We stayed here for 5 nights due to its location and photos of the lodge. We booked this hotel 5 months ago as at that time there wasn’t much choice as everything was booked up already. Truly disappointing, although I will see the front desk staff was very helpful with info and provided times for the local shuttle to various places around town. I thought the previous reviews were being a little picky but I totally agree. The coffee and tea are terrible, like how can that be so complicated. Probably use low end products. The breakfast area does get busy and you hardly ever see anyone cleaning off tables. The breakfast area itself is not restocked from day to day. The hot tubs are full of 6-8 people even tho the sign says max of 4 people. The hot tubs are not that big at all and 2 of them plus a cold plunge are crowded into this small patio area along with a few tables and chairs and a steam room. Looks great in the photos. Giving this place 3 stars is being generous. The door to our room was so hard to open and close, it obviously has been worked on before as the paint is scraped at the top where the door sticks. If you have to stay here ask for a room away from the elevator as there is only one in the lodge so lots of traffic up and down. The floors by the elevator are not carpeted and housekeeping starts rolling the carts off the elevators in the early am..loud talking as well can be heard. Overall not a great experience. We spent some time at the hotel Moxy next door which just opened and is really nice.

My friends and I recently stayed at the Canalta Lodge in Banff while attending the Banff Craft Beer Festival, and it was an experience that truly exceeded all expectations! Having met the Lodge Host, Lawrence (aka Larry), during a previous visit, I was already impressed with the level of service provided. However, this stay took it to a whole new level!

Lawrence ensured our visit was nothing short of exceptional. Despite not being present, his warmth and hospitality were strongly felt throughout our stay. He generously upgraded us to what I can only assume was the lodge's most exquisite room, because I didn't even know they had rooms that nice!! It was the epitome of comfort and mountain charm. The beds were like sleeping on clouds, with the best pillows I've ever experienced in any hotel. This level of comfort added a special touch to our already exciting trip!

But what really set this visit apart was Lawrence's thoughtful gesture of leaving us a box of assorted craft beers with a heartfelt handwritten note. This personal touch not only made us feel special but also made us feel like we were part of the Canalta family. It's rare to receive such personalized and sincere service; it left me with a permanent smile and a sense of genuine care that persisted throughout our stay.

This isn't just a hotel stay; it's an experience that resonates with warmth and exceptional service. My friends and I have unanimously agreed that we wouldn't want to stay anywhere else in Banff. The Canalta Lodge, under Lawrence's impeccable management, stands out not just for its amazing amenities (sauna, multiple hot tubs, cold plunge, s'mores bar, etc) but for making each guest feel uniquely special and cared for.

We are already looking forward to our next stay at the Canalta Lodge. It's not just a place to stay; it's a place that stays with you, thanks to people like Lawrence who go above and beyond to create unforgettable experiences!

Thank you, Lawrence, and the Canalta Lodge team, for a truly memorable stay. We can't wait...

We’re SO HAPPY with our stay from Check-in to Check-out! We are a family that stayed in 2 beautiful rooms, with a 5-month-old baby. (1) Booking/ Reservation: Done over the phone with the very efficient Mr. Sudeep (Manager), he was very mindful about our needs and preferences-hence, we sure got rooms that we loved so much! (2) Rooms: Spacious, Clean, and you can definitely feel the “Banff” vibes - I personally loved the wood aesthetics and the whole lodge smelled great and was very clean! We also greatly appreciate on how the Canalta Lodge provided us with a brand new baby’s crib/ bed for my 5-month-old nephew, he sure did have a wonderful sleep. Our beds were very comfortable. We all had very good night rests! Washrooms: So clean! (3) Reception, Staff, Housekeeping Team - Very warm and welcoming, responsive to our needs and made sure the we are all comfortable and that we are enjoying our stay with them. (4) Outdoor Hot Pools and Sauna: What an outstanding feature, It felt like we were in an exclusive mountain-spa/resort, the pools and sauna worked well and were very clean. It made us all super relaxed. With the landscape surrounding us (especially the Majestic Mountains on Banff), WOW! The experience was truly memorable. (5) Buffet Breakfast: On-time and delicious! All food and drinks were so good. The dining space was also stylish and comfortable to eat on. (6) Check-out: It was smooth and no-hassle, shout-out for the Housekeeping and reception teams: Thank you so much for letting us know that we left our camera battery and charger; within 10 minutes after our Check-out they called us right away about it! Great job! Wow! We are in awe of how you put attention to details and over-all-guest experience! Thank you SO MUCH Canalta Lodge Banff! Great JOB to all your Team! For sure we’ll be back...
