Donaleigh's Irish Public House — Restaurant in Barrie

Just to start. Our server was amazing! Can’t remember her name but she had short hair dark brown and lots of Tats. Oh ya I think she’s the bartender. I was happy to have her way way more then the 2 other girls who seamed-to not want to be there last night Sadly my Mac and Cheese was cold and not the best. The past few times I have ordered M&C it has been take away, so I thought that’s why it had been sort of dry. Other then cold and slightly under cooked it was super dry. After if was re-heated/cooked it was dry and just the same as past few orders I have had take away. My daughter has also noticed the same in recent months as she frequently goes here with friends She actually said she feels that the owner/chef is not the person as it’s been for years making our dishes I’m so sad about it as I dream of the yummy hot creamy full of flavour dish. I think this was cooked El Dente and frozen and reheated. My daughter said hers was super hot but just not the Mac and cheese it use to be. But it’s still the best at its worst. That’s why it’s so disappointing Also st the end of January on-a cold rainy evening I don’t think the ceiling fans had to be blasting. There were maybe 5 tables being served. It was not crowded nor was the heat on. One more thing, we were 3 adults 2 in there 20’s doing shots of tequila and having adult conversations and a family with a toddler was sat right beside us on the benches. We had a great experience here last night. The gentleman invited us in. We sat down and a cute bubbly blonde girl came over. Very friendly. She noticed we were struggling a bit with what to order for a drink and she made it clear that if we don't see it on the menu it doesn't necessarily mean they can't make it for us. My Wife LOVES mojitos. She said let me see if we have any mint to be able to make this for you. She bolted from the table. Came running back about 2 minutes later with a bag in hand saying I got the mint. I stole it from the kitchen. We will make your drink for you! She wasn't kidding. They made the drink and I had a pineapple concoction that normally comes with gin. I asked them to sub it out with tequila. They had no issue doing that. And I actually think it tasted better. We ordered a couple pounds of wings and some sweet potato fries and everything tasted great. I highly recommend the garlic parmesan as they don't make it the saucy way. It's made with actual parmesan and garlic powder. Our waitress took care of us the whole evening and kept coming back to make sure that everything was good and she made a point to ask about the drinks. We assure that we were very happy and that the food was great. When we were finished she gave us a couple of minutes to enjoy the end of our meal and then came over and helped us get out of there quickly. We assured her we would definitely be back in that. All of the staff at Donaleigh’s are so wonderful and take the best care of their patrons. I ordered take out food from Donaleigh’s on May 3rd (in the middle of the COVID-19 shutdowns that only allowed for take out food and a large amount of construction in Dunlop St.). When parking near 5 points and walking towards the restaurant I passed about 4 very unsavory people who were begging for money and talking to everyone walking by. When i went in to pick up my order I warned the nice young lady who was preparing all of the orders to be picked up that she shouldn’t walk to her car alone when she is off work. She IMMEDIATELY, without a hesitation, asked if I would like on of the staff member from the kitchen to walk me to my vehicle. The gentleman from the kitchen came right out immediately and very nicely took the time out of his day to walk me to my vehicle and waited until I was safely in my vehicle. These two staff members easily could have been annoyed and short either me for asking for such a big favor on a busy day, but they were not. They were so sweet and kind. I am so impressed with this establishment and their amazing staff. Kudos to them for being so sweet and caring of their guests!! Thank you...
