Decided to try this place out après Ski with the family. We understood that new ownership had taken over, and that they served quality food. Low and behold, just a short detour off the 400 (off at Dunlop, it’s located on Anne St, then back on at Essa), we were very impressed with the quality, speed and service. My wife and I ordered the Burger Combo’s (I had cheddar and Bacon), the son had hotdog & onion rings, and daughter had chicken finger and fries. I have to say, overall, it did not disappoint. Coming from Toronto, one always rates burger joints as a comparison of the two-longstanding best; Burger Shack and Golden Star (yes, I know that there are some newcomers in Toronto, but those are the best longstanding ones), I would say that Heinz would be the equivalent in both quality and service. The burgers were char-broiled, with fresh soft buns, the topping choice was plentiful and fresh. The fries were fresh cut and reminiscent of the type of fries you get at the chip truck on the way to the cottage. The onion rings were hand-battered, and one of the best I’ve had (my son had to keep slapping my hand away from stealing his). The chicken fingers were juicy and fresh. Very tasty overall. They also have milkshakes… excellent tasting. Looking forward to returning, and my French-Canadian wife is eagerly awaiting the highly-recommended poutine. The service was very friendly and accommodating (we had young kids who kept changing their minds on what they wanted), and the speed to get the food was very quick. The general manager heard this was our first time, so came over to ensure that we were satisfied and everything was to our liking. Great service. This may become a regular stop après...
Read moreSo I go in today and order a medium rare steak on a kaiser with fries and gravy and I get my steak serve well done though it was still tender and the little teenage girl that served me seemed to be on verge of a breakdown so I kept it to myself only to realize that I didn't get my gravy so I have get up to get that which by then my fries were cold but I scarfed it down anyway out of sheer hunger. As I was going to leave I decided I wanted to grab a milkshake only to realize the girl who took my first order never gave me my $5 change (which I was planning to tip anyway, but it's the principle of the matter) and then after I order and pay for my milkshake (ensuring to get my change this time) only for her to start having a breakdown and crying while making my milkshake, making the rew entire experience extremely awkward. Do not recommend anyone going to this place to be served by insecure employees who obviously didn't care about me as the customer and to top it all off as I was leaving I noticed the tip jar sign said "My Bo$$ I$ @ Che@p B@$t@rd" and even though I knew it was clearly aimed the tip jar, it made me as a person who has worked in the food service industry, automatically think about the quality of the food before the quality of treatment and payment to the employees. Not exactly something I expectist to see as a tip jar quote, more deterring and eye grabbing to be honest. Also the cleanliness and organization of the grills and ranges and range hoods was just screaming health and safety violation the last two above the fryers were beyond cleaning and desperately in need of replacing, which just made me wonder what things were like in places I...

You can see it’s been going down hill for years if you look them up on a Reddit. They’re immature and very fragile egos because people aren’t happy a semi established restaurant went to poo.
The donair was good but being so desperate for cash that you have to charge on toppings that would be free at 99% of other burger restaurants was my final straw and it seems like enough people have told you that going bare bones and looking desperate is probably why people jumped to better restaurants. But yes keep claiming it’s because all of Barrie is racist.
Ps if the donair was worth it then you’d still be in business.
OG Post I decided to give a review after noticing the paper on the wall of the building and laughing at the reviews from here.
The last owners replying in the comments ran that place into the ground. The quality of food dipped and they made it seem like it was a massive crime if you used something like skip the dishes. My last straw was when I tried to get a Donair with pickles and they wanted to charge extra. If they can name me 5 restaurants in Barrie that do that then I’ll apologize for judging them on that.
As a mixed race person I’m ashamed they would resort to saying their customers are racist when they decided to run their business poorly.
Hopefully the new owners of the chicken place don’t follow in...
