We decided to try this place because the review were decent, and we were going to the Tangiers Cookstown Outlet mall. In addition the resort we were staying at was offering a free appetizer.
From the outside it looks quite nice, and the interior although not spectacular has a nice country feel to it but it doesn't seem upscale enough to warrant the prices they charge. If it weren't for the free appetizer we probably would not have given this place a shot. We did, wished we hadn't. If you are looking for speed, look elsewhere as it took almost 10 minutes after being seated to be attended to. We both asked for no ice in our pop, and both got ice. I asked about having the umbrella on our outside patio table to be put down, and she said our "umbrella technician" would come out and that never happened. All of the dishes sounded nice, but they left a lot to be desired.
Our appetizer was chicken wings, and although they tasted good and were large in size the quality of the chicken was veins in a big way,, and extremely fatty. Our pulled pork sandwich was alright, but the comment Karen made was that it was bland. If it weren't for the apple coleslaw on the sandwich, it would not have been overly good. It comes with two sides, and we chose macaroni and cheese along with a baked potato with a three cheese blend. This was the best part, as the macaroni was also bland.
Be careful as a man when you go to the washroom. Not only are they not wheelchair accessible (you have to go down a set of stairs) but when you walk in, you will think you are in the women's washroom. I had to do a double take, twice because I thought it was the wrong room as there is not one urinal, only stalls and the entire thing is MAYBE 10 x 10 feet with just one sink. Terrible configuration and size.
Finally, when it came to the service on top of the previous comments we waited 5 minutes for our bill and then went inside to hurry things along. She had not even gotten a manager to discount our bill, and then had to ask one of the other servers to get the manager. If it hadn't been for us taking initiative, it would have probably been another 5 to 10 minutes before we were...
Read moreWhat a disgusting experience!!!
We went there, unknowingly got ourselves seated at a reserved table.. our bad !
BUT
Our order was taken, THEY TOOK OUR ORDER (no one asked our names if we have made reservations cause we are sitting there) , and during this time we waited for our food for 25-30 mins. Then a lady comes and says that we are sitting on a wrong table we should have asked and bla bla bla bla. (I agree but they took our order!!) They got us seated at the bar with our foodd. Sooo much humiliation!!
If we got ourselves seated on reserved table, the staff could simply inform us about the same before taking our order!!!
We got our food packed and we left. Cause we didn’t wanted to experience more humiliation.
We reached home and were about to eat the mac and cheese and found it has *bacon in it!!!
When we placed order we made it clear to the staff that we are Vegetarian so we dont want bacon in our mac and cheese
We have paid $135 for mac and cheese only!!!
The whole experience felt like that the staff knew that we sat unknowingly and they intentionally didn’t inform us about the same before taking our order!! for money??! Woww!
I have been to this restaurant before and had a wonderful experience. Thats why came back today!!! But im so much disappointed ryt now cant tell!!
Literally felt like that u guys are racist!! The staff thought that they can get away with this and we wouldn’t notice their behaviour.
We noticed it ryt away! But were too kind to say anything to you therefore we just got our food packed and left but now as i see that i have paid for something I didn’t ask for. Its really disgusting !!!
I will definitely visit the place again but i will be more mindful this time cause now i know that u guys can playy well with us!!!
I will definitely make sure that noone can make me feel humiliated at this extent!!!
I am deeply disappointed that we had such a...
Read moreMy wife and I went here for our anniversary dinner since it had great reviews, and were shocked. Seems like one of those places that has the community “club” popping it up while new customers try it once and never return. Will summarize a very sad restaurant experience below:
-Sat down indoors, and don’t think there is AC because it was 27 outside and felt like it inside too -Waited 15 minutes flat before anyone approached us -Were not asked if we were celebrating anything even though we said it was our anniversary on the reservation (minor gripe, but something that I think is nice for restaurants to do) -Ordered two glasses of wine and bruschetta, bruschetta got to us within 5 minutes and before our drinks because it was likely just reheated. Wine came out and was fine. -Bruschetta comes with four small sticks and you do your own topping. Had half the topping left over when finished. Waitress asked us if we needed more bread almost immediately which would be an “extra order”. We did and paid for the extra bread that got to us after 10-15 more minutes when the topping was already cold. Seems like this might happen often, and a restaurant upcharging for bread? What country are we in? -Dinner were pork and were very bland and chewy, again felt like frozen and reheated product. -Might have a cleanliness issue or an issue with leaving product out as I was throwing up chunks of tomato from the bruschetta at 5am
All-in-all kind of ridiculous. Seems like a pub trying to front as a fine dining experience and cutting a lot of corners. Other restaurants in Barrie with the same prices present completely different incredible food and experiences, will be avoiding this one...
