I've eaten at pretty well all the chicken restaurants in Barrie. I was initially skeptical about trying this place. I'm also not one to read and write reviews. So naturally, I went in with very low expectations...
From the first bite of chicken tender, I was absolutely BLOWN AWAY. I didn't know...chicken could taste this good. I didn't think it was possible. It was QUALITY. REAL. JUICY. FLAVORFUL. It was a slice of heaven. The spiciness level was also exactly what I asked for.
Moving on to the fries...and now I'm re-living my childhood. Cooked in beef tallow, these are what fries are supposed to be. These fries are other-worldly. They're from a different time, when the world was a better place. It would be difficult to get a better dopamine, oxytocin, and leptin spike from anything else on God's green earth.
You can literally taste the absence of seed oils and toxic chemicals in their food. I have a sensitive gut, and I experienced no issues. This is a very important factor in how I judge restaurants. I always choose food quality over every other metric. You are what you eat, as they say. The food is also reasonably priced, and the portions are also generous, which is the cherry on top.
Juicy Bird, congratulations on creating some of the finest fast food ever created. THANK YOU for giving me an unforgettable meal. They say most restaurants fail within the first year. I'm not going to let that happen if I can help it. I'm going to shout your name from the rooftops, because I support the QUALITY that Juicy Bird offers. It's the QUALITY that makes your food truly special. There's just nothing...
Read moreIt's faster food, not fast. Typical atmosphere of a counter service food place. Seating 7 tables for 4. Clean. A cool old Honda 90 in the dining area, Barrie unique aspects in the muraled walls. Well reviewed by #marcelloeats of Toronto fame. Halal certified. Prices on par with similar places. Under 60$ for a 2pc meal combo, 3pc meal combo, 2 puddings and a side of Mac and cheese. Canned pop and bottled water only for drinks. It's not fine dining, hence the lack of 5 stars. Portion sizes were great. Each chicken tender is about 20cm long, 5 cm wide and round . Banger side mac and cheese served in a one cup (250ml) container. Shareable size was the single deep, double wide burger container, full enough to make closing it difficult, for the price, definitely a better deal then as a side. Banana pudding was whipped, fairly standard, but the Graham cracker crust and banana slices in it made it very tasty, also served in a one cup container. Nashville level of heat had significant build and staying power after three pieces. Good flavour that wouldn't have bothered me as much with only 2pcs. The dipping sauce was a ranch variant but only the 60ml size. Enough for a two piece meal but if ordering more, get more. Mac and Cheese was very tasty, slight tang of processed nacho cheese, but obviously some other cheeses in it as well if any processed was used at all. Spice level hit my palate quite nicely after the 3 Pcs of chicken. My wife has declared the fries the best yet in Barrie. Will be our current go to for migraine fry cravings. Forgot the before photo, so the food definitely rates a 4/5 stars...
Read moreSo I walked in and ordered a combo⌠staff are polite. Proceeded to wait, while waiting, I looked around, and every single table was full. The place was packed. Iâm like oh must be good, but then I realized not one table had food on it. Everyone was waiting with receipt in hand. People werenât happy looking. Conversing with people they have been waiting a half an hour plus. Unfortunately after 15 minutes I didnât have time. Asked to cancel my order. I can appreciate being busy and waiting for fresh food I get it. But if youâre gonna make people wait, a half an hour you need to tell them that itâs a half an hour wait so they can make an informed decision. Looking around people werenât happy waiting. Iâm sure the food was great but that night wasnât my night to try it. It was a little disappointing. The reason I was given was it fresh food. Even better, but when youâre busy, you need to be making food nonstop and not having people wait. They are not going to survive if they continue like that. Staff advised most items take 15 minutes. So be prepared. Just being honest and fair. I hope when I return that I donât...
