Tiki Chips — Restaurant in Barrie

I think we had a failure to communicate. I asked the lady who was taking the order about the chicken fingers that were in the kids menu. She assured me that I could order them. The kids menu listed Chicken Fingers with 1/2 small fry. I told her I would be ordering a medium fry with gravy in lieu of the 1/2 small fry as I was sharing with my boyfriend. She proceeded to ring up the order and it came to more than expected. I questioned why but didn’t get a response.

The order was ready approximately 10 minutes later. When I went to pick it up, she proceeded to hand me over a large sized box containing fries and 3 chicken fingers with a small container of plum sauce. I questioned her about the gravy because there wasn’t any and I had asked for gravy on the fries. She then proceeds to hand over another box of fries with the gravy on them. I asked her why we were getting two orders of fries . The whole point of our order was for my Boyfriend and i to share.

Her response was to take them home ? First, we were passing through Barrie from Sudbury. Second. What did she expect us to do with the extra fries once we got them home ? Freeze them ? She then said that she couldn’t give us any money back and she misunderstood our order.

Would have let it slide if the fries had been good. They were too big and very dry, even with the gravy on them. I don’t know what causes fries to taste dry, but they were. 5 minutes after eating a handful , I got terrible abdominal cramps. Not so good when you’re travelling.

Will definitely not be taking the route to Tiki anytime soon.

Just came from there and absolutely appalled at their customer service! While I understand trying to run a business and wanting to make as much money as possible- telling off a customer (myself and kids) because I asked if they could put my two large poutines into 4 containers is disgusting! I placed my order asking to put the poutines into 4 and the lady taking the order agreed while charging for the containers, I went to pay the fee by debit and she decided it was on the house but I would know for next time, totally fine... I come back for my order to the owner yelling at me telling me to put my order into my container myself and next time order more that it's not fair for customers paying for smalls, can someone tell me how that makes sense!!? Awesome poutine but a total jerk (hi, I paid $18 for 2 poutines, it's not like they were discounted or...

Imagine being hungry, stomach rumbling then you see a colorful food truck. The friendly woman asks you what you want, you say the poutine and a hot dog, it's cost a fair price. When you dig into the poutine, you just DEVOUR the entire thing, inhaling the fries, gravy and stringy cheesey goodness into your human gas tank like you are some kind of human-vaccume hybrid. 'Oh that was so delicious', you think to yourself. Then you went home later that day and couldn't shut up to your mom about how great the food was. This was my experience at Tiki Chips and I can say for sure I will be coming back to try some more...
