I don't often write reviews, but when I do there's usually a good reason. Want to hear about the worst restaurant experience of mine or any of my families lives? Strap in.
We were out celebrating my sisters birthday, we had a group of ten and arrived for our 6:30 reservation. We've all been here many times and were expecting a similar good experience. How about a waitress quitting mid shift, waiting over 2 and a half hours for food, insane lies, manager yelling at us, waitresses boyfriend showing up, all leading to a nice big family fight?
Around 7pm our waitress swapped for a new one I think when her shift ended. We should have noticed something was up with the new one as I had 5 people sitting around me waiting for drinks for 15-20 minutes. She took our food order around 7:10, we were all starving. After 50 minutes of waiting for our food our she finally comes back, leans in and says "Ok are you all ready to take your food order" my sister and I did a double take and said "No no, you mean drinks? You took our food order 50 minutes ago?" After a quick shocked look, she quickly made her way back to the bar. My sister and I talked about it and was like no, there is no way she didn't put the food order in and how did she not remember the 10+ minutes it took her to take/write down that order?!
We figured she must have put it in and forgot about it or just accidentally asked again, forgetting she already submitted ours. 10 more minutes pass and now it has spread through the table that she just said that and everyone was concerned the food order hadn't even been placed now over an hour since we placed the order.
Someone from the party walks up to her at the bar and asks her, she tells them "I am so sorry, it's my very first night and I'm overwhelmed, BUT the food was ordered and should be out soon.
8:10 comes and a new waitress walks over. She says "I want to say sorry ten times right now, your waitress...she's gone, she walked out and we don't know where she went. She also didn't put in your food order and we don't have the order."
So were now almost an hour and forty-five minutes in, no food, no order placed, and our waitress is gone. But here's where it gets even more wild. We say to the new-new waitress "Yeah we heard it was her first day and this must have been a lot to handle"
The waitress looks at us and says "This was absolutely not her first day, she's not new" This is when we all started to get upset, and this is when I left.. I couldn't wait any longer but my family decided to stick it out as the new waitress said "We'll get you some fries right now and I will place your food order and you'll have it in 5 minutes."
I got a text from my sister at 9:15. "Still no food" they spoke to the manager and he told them that the new food order was placed as it normally is and was not rushed at all. So over 2 hours after originally ordering they still had the courage to bring food to all the other tables around, but didn't think to expedite the table that is close to melting down. Well. That's what happened.
Turns out, all hell broke lose after that. The manager ended up yelling at them, new-new waitress refused to come back to the table after she clearly realized she completely butchered trying to save this dinner, one of the staffs boyfriends showed up and confronted them outside, and all ended in a family fight.
You want an adventure for your next dining experience? This...
Read moreI was pretty disappointed.
Ordered the Turkey and Bacon Club, advertised as "oven-roasted turkey". Pfft! Not only just plain, salty, tasteless sliced deli meat, it never saw any oven at this restaurant, AND it wasn't even a club sandwich! It was ciabatta melt.
Waitress' response was pretty cold and reluctant, but did agree to let me change to a chicken club sandwich instead, which I had seen my wife order, and it looked better, and was an actual club sandwich. Took a long time to get it, and it was almost as disappointing. The bread was simultaneously burnt black and squished and soggy. The lettuce was tinged with brown. The chicken was dry breast meat and seemed like a cheap frozen product, and was also charred too much. The fries were greasy and probably fried in oil that was a bit too low of a temperature. The gravy was tasty, but $2.00 for a few tbsps of gravy is not worth it. The iced tea was a little watered down, but OK.
My wife's Greek Salad had a creamy dressing she didn't like and she didn't eat most of it. Her father finished it happily enough though. She had similar complaints about her chicken club sandwich as me. (Burned toast, dry chicken etc.)
My in-laws enjoyed their potato bacon soup and (beef) "Shepard's Pie". So "thumbs up" for those.
It was pretty quiet at the time. About 1:30pm-2:30pm. There were customers at about a half dozen tables. Hockey was playing on the many big screens. Decor is a bit plain and out of date, but not terrible. The carpet should be replaced or changed to hardwood floor. Didn't see the bathrooms myself but no one at our table had any complaints.
Overall, I think I prefer other local places and won't be eager to return except to have beers and watch a game. Too bad. I gather the place used to be...
Read moreMade reservations for 5:30p.m. Friday, July 5th, for 17 family n friends. Was asked if it was an event we were celebrating. Yes, was my response. Family and friends arrived before we did and were sent to different sections of the restaurant. They were also told there was no reservation. When one server came to take our order, they were advised we had an event to attend and had to leave by 7:15p.m. I thought arriving by 5:30, there would be more than plenty of time to get meals ordered and people fed. The first meal came out at approx 6:57p.m. ONE meal. And we were told the rest would be about 10 minutes. My husband left at 7:10p.m. angry, p.o'd, and very frustrated with his meal dumped in two containers. One server continued to bring out two meals at a time. When I asked to speak to a manager or supervisor at the front of the restaurant, the woman I asked how she could help. I explained the situation. She apologized, short staffed, small kitchen, etc. I asked why I wasn't I advised when we arrived? She shrugged her shoulders. I said I invited family and friends to celebrate my husband, and the evening has essentially been ruined because of the lack of service on their part. She said maybe they could comp the drinks. That didn't happen. Extremely disappointed. Have been going to Wickie's for decades. Left a message requesting contact from the manager and have yet to receive a call back. It feels as though our concerns are not important to them, that we are not...
