Tonight we thought we would try Indian cuisine at a place we have not tried before.
I ordered the Chilli Paneer to start and Masala Dosa with butter and garlic naan. My wife ordered the fish curry.
I received the chilli paneer first with no Naan bread. The paneer had a nice chili sauce and we both enjoyed it. Next I was served the masala dosa I ordered while my wife waited for her fish curry. I had to ask if we could get some Naan to eat with the sauces. Some time passed and we were served our 2 orders of Naan. I had finished my meal and my wife was just being served hers so we had to order more Naan.
Regarding the food and the flavors, it was very tasty food. I asked for medium spicy and it was on point to what I expected.
Service Tips from someone who dines out at least 2-3 times a week: Never serve food until everyone's meal is ready. It is considered rude to eat in front of people waiting for their food. Also when serving food, always make sure to serve any associated orders (ie: naan bread) with a meal that has sauces.
Honestly, the food was tastey but there are other restaurants with just as good food for a much better value. In my opinion for the quantity of food received, it was overpriced. An order of naan was 3 pieces that looked like they were cut from 1 regular sized naan. The paneer was cut in small triangle pieces. There was a lot more sauce than paneer.
On another note the temperature in the restaurant was on the chilly side. Not sure if that is done on purpose because of serving spicy food or not but it was cool enough that I almost put my jacket on. My wife also felt it was on the cool side so it was not just me.
Feedback to the Chef: You have very tastey food, but your service needs some improvement. When cooking for a table, the table should be served at the same time. We were a table of 2 people and should not be getting food for the second person when the first person is done eating. I did like that your menu was concise and not large, but it would help to have pictures of the dishes on the menu with an explanation of what is in them to help those who do not know Indian cuisine well.
Please note my rating is based on my own personal overall experience and I would rate it a 2.5/5 for all the reasons listed above. I wish you the best, but I doubt we will return because at the end of the day value for my money matters. We spent $72 with no beverages and I was not full due to the...
Read moreI mean the food was good, can’t complain. Nothing extra ordinary but better than most Indian restaurants in Halifax. But suggest to go easy on jeera as a spice. They were playing Malayalam and Tamil songs so I kind of got the vibe of a south Indian restaurant. Ordered fish curry with naan, not sure which style it was but definitely not Kerala style! Naan was ordinary but then again I haven’t had good naan from any of the Halifax restaurants. Customer service definitely could be improved. Our order was taken and there wasn’t a single waiter who came in between even though the place was practically empty(there were just two tables filled including ours). I had to get up from my seat twice to ask for something and even paid bill at the counter because the service was so slow. We were seated on a two person seat citing the restaurant would get filled up on Friday evening which wasn’t an unreasonable assumption but the whole time we were there, there were practically four people in the whole restaurant for dining. I’d say it was only fair to give a bigger table (we did ask)considering the space crunch in a two seater table which I wouldn’t have mentioned if it was a full/ busy time ;also we saw a couple already seated in a bigger table when we entered but not pointing fingers. Overall the staff wasn’t rude so still tipped but the service could be better, even the busiest downtown restaurants at peak times have waiters checking on you atleast once in an hour duration. Place is not easy to spot from main road but there is ample parking space.
Oh and one guy kept cleaning and cleaning the legs of tables even when people were dining, they don’t do that unless there is a spill as a general rule of restaurants in here. I could justify saying it was an off peak time but then again that’s contradicting what they said before. Also they even vacuumed some table behind us, it wasn’t a pleasant dining experience.
We drove from Halifax reading the reviews, average experience, wouldn’t visit a...
Read moreI recently visited India Paradise in Bedford, and I must say it was a thoroughly disappointing experience. From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was off-putting with its dark, black interiors that felt more like a dungeon than a restaurant.
The service was abysmal. There was only one waitress to handle at least eight tables, answer phones, manage online orders, and handle payments to vendors. This resulted in extremely slow service. I arrived at 1:15 PM, and my food wasn't served until 1:40 PM. What should have been a quick 40-minute lunch break turned into an hour and more. This does not include the additional 5 minutes I spent waiting to be seated. 🙁
I ordered the Ghee Roast Biriyani(Goat ), expecting a flavorful and aromatic dish. Instead, what I received was cold meat that seemed like it had been sitting out for hours. The biriyani itself was overwhelmingly flavored with cumin, completely overpowering any other spices that should have been present. It was a far cry from the rich and balanced taste I was hoping for.
To make matters worse, the plates were stained and even rusted in some areas, which is completely unacceptable for any dining establishment, let alone one that charges premium prices. The lack of quality and attention to detail was evident in every aspect of the meal.
The only positive note was the waitress, who was kind and approached everyone with a friendly demeanor despite being clearly overworked.
Overall, India Paradise fails to deliver on both quality and ambiance, making it a place I would not recommend to anyone. Save your money and find a restaurant that actually cares about its food and customers. Never...
