Sushi Maru (Japanese & Korean) — Restaurant in Bedford

I have issues with gluten and canola oil which I mentioned immediately upon our server coming to the table. I asked if they had gluten-free soy sauce, which I was told they did. Later, I was told that there was a two dollar charge for the tablespoon of gluten-free soya sauce that they gave me. I ordered sashimi, which is usually safe and asked for a small bowl of sushi rice to accompany it. The meal came with miso soup which had soy sauce in it so I could not eat that and as well, some buckwheat noodles that had flour in them, I had hoped that the sushi rice could be substituted. I was never reassured about that and told there might be an extra charge. To be fair, the server was very new and had to go back into the kitchen and ask questions several times. my husband ordered a nigiri plate which also came with the miso soup and buckwheat flour noodles. His meal actually looked reasonable. When I got my sashimi, they were paper thin slices of fish. The rice that I was brought was normal steamed rice and I took one bite and realized it and asked the server if I could please have Sushi rice as what I was given was not sushi rice. I had to ask for it yet another time as it was not brought out to me. This was a lunchtime meal. I felt sorry for the server so I still left a 15% tip because of that’s who I am. We usually go to Sushi 10 one in Cole Harbour and we are treated so well there especially with regards to my allergies so my advice to you Bedford people who have to put up with this, it’s worth the drive to Pearl Harbour to get...

We actually went to Sushi Nami on Bedford highway but had to leave and are we ever glad we did. What great options for a lunch menu! We ordered the Maru C and D if I remember correctly and they were the most expensive lunch items but still extremely reasonably priced at 22 and 18 bucks a piece. They came with a Miso which was perfect, and a Korean cold noodle dish that was also amazing and have never seen this done before so was super impressed. The Shrimp Tempura looked cooked to order and maybe prepared on the spot and a 5 shrimp portion for 7.50. The Sashimi selection was amazing, no Shrimp just all high value pieces like Maguro, Sake and Eel. The Soy sauce was less salty and slightly sweet than I’ve had at other places and again was great. Mm mm mmmmmmm! I was craving some California rolls and Sushi Maru delivered!

Well, I didn’t get it delivered to me I went and picked it up. I ordered some C roll and Spring Rolls and wow, they hit the spot.

The C rolls didn’t have a ton of rice on them which is perfect, more room for all the delicious things on the inside. They provided the perfect amount of soy sauce on the side for dippin.

The spring rolls were crisp and delicious. The dough is different from what I am use to in Ontario. But they were fantastic.
