Best fried chicken there is hands down! Very friendly staff and the food was all delicious. The mac and cheese is soooo good, and their buttermilk ranch is out of this world.
Went on opening day and it took 5 hours for us to get our meal, but (as a Popeyes lover for 18 years) it was worth the wait and the staff at the Bedford location were working their tails off and doing amazing. Its a statement that on this location's opening day they did better than most of the other restaurants weve visited in the last few months. Food was hot, order was all there and correct except missing a couple breast pieces. Considering we ordered McDonalds the other night and literally they didnt send half our order and theyve been open for decades, for Popeyes to knock it out of the park on their OPENING DAY is astounding.
Ive been told of offers of biscuits to some people while they wait and of chicken and a biscuit to some of those that came too late to be served, which is going above and beyond and should be applauded in the HRM where service (especially in the food industry) has gone drastically downhill. I also heard of some people throwing biscuits at staff and being rude, if this is true, shame on every one of you. These people are working hard AND keeping a smile on their faces which is incredibly hard to do these days, especially with people throwing biscuits at you. Grow up.
But back to the review...
The staff were also incredibly fast considering the huge line and amount of food being ordered, and, as far as I know, they were prepared and did not run out of anything. We ordered roughly $150 (16pc Family Meal, Mashed Potaoes with Cajun Gravy, Mac and Cheese, Cajun Poutine, Onion Rings, Popcorn Shrimp, Large Fountain pop, 12 Tenders, 8 Biscuits and 4 strawberry cream cheese pies) of food and it was ready and in our hands in under 10 mins. Considering chicken takes at least 6 mins to cook, thats some lightning speed and some good preparation and planning.
To address a couple low reviews on here; They did not 'close early' on opening day to my knowledge. They closed at 10, but as the line was so long they had to cut it off. Maybe they closed dine in early to help deal with drive thru, but that would also be understandable tbh. My friend waited 3 hours and was the car behind the last person allowed to order. They were friendly to him and he isnt boycotting them because thats how these things work. No fault of Popeyes or their staff. We arrived at 3:50pm and left at 8:30pm. If you were only waiting 45 mins and it was an hour before close, you werent gonna make it before close anyways. At least they told you, they couldve just waited until they served the last person and turned off the lights, which Ive had happen here at another restaurant in HRM. š¤·āāļø
As for the one complaining to Popeyes about customers blocking deliveries; Why would you complain on here and take their rating down?! As someone so concerned with your business you surely understand how rude that is. Cars are pulled over on the shoulder and honestly its the best place for this as its a dead end and you dont have congestion both ways. Did you nor your manager nor district manager not know this opening was happening and then planned orders proactively? Why is their only one route for deliveries? How would you propose the almost 1km line of vehicles line up off the road when they cant pull over further? Are you actually publically shaming a locally owned franchise because they have customers after a pandemic? Really?! Come on. Be better.
I was compelled to comment on these as theyre not fair at all to bring down the rating and should not impact others choice to dine here.
I HIGHLY recommend Popeyes Bedford and commend their opening staff on a job very well done. Looking forward to returning after things calm down. I truly hope they continue to keep up the speed, quality and hospitality that Popeyes is known for as we will be loyal customers for as long as...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDisgusting food. Both myself and my girlfriend hated every aspect of the food itself.
I am a forgiving person when it comes to food but this was one of the worst experiences Iāve ever had in a fast food place, anywhere in the world.
I ordered the original chicken sandwich platter with mac n cheese and mashed potatoes and my girlfriend the 2 piece spicy platter with biscuit, Cajun fries, and coleslaw.
Chicken Sandwich dry completely unseasoned, not underseasoned, UNseasoned. breading was not crispy; it was gummy and chewy only 4 tiny slices of slimy pickles greasy and tasted most of oil bread was very soggy
2 piece chicken underseasoned (very little āspicyā seasoning, and the seasoning itself didnāt taste good) so much gristle that my gf said āhardly any edible chickenā oily
Mac n Cheese. We both dry-heaved. Legitimately. Top 3 most disgusting things Iāve ever put in my mouth from a restaurant. So overcooked the noodles were complete mush. Cheese sauce tasted like artificial cream flavouring and not even any cheese. No salt or pepper. Tasted like rotten, out of date pasta from the back of the refrigerator.
Coleslaw - flavourless slimy tasted āterrible, sour, and stankā according to my girlfriend. I tried it and concur. Iāll also add nauseating.
Biscuit - oily and flavourless. Cannot even speak with the driest of KFC biscuits
Mashed potatoes - the only not completely horrible thing. Actually had a few different spices in the gravy like red chili flake, but was still bad, and watery.
Cajun Fries Cajun? Not at all. Vague, weak seasoning that hardly had any taste hardly salted. tasted like straight oil hard on the outside and inside; tasted like a frozen French fry
Dasani Water - not the best, not the worst. You know. Itās Dasani. Just added this to put a little positivity into this bleak review.
We immediately got stomach aches and we are driving back home at the moment. My girlfriend says she would like to throw up.
Thank you, Popeyes Halifax. We shall never come back. $37 for a pile of heartburn and disappointment, with a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOk, here is my review after two visits.
First one on opening day. Ordered 16 piece family meal. Serving crew is friendly but professionally under trained. We ordered bean and rice as side, they ran out, serving crew didnt even ask if we would like to exchange it for something else before handing us the bag. We also requested the 16 pieces as all dark meat, apparently the packing crew cant tell the difference between thigh pieces and the breast pieces. But in the end, one of the floor manager was able to fix all the issues for us.
Second visit is ~ a week later. Ordered two spicy sandwich combos. Had trouble communicating with cashier, kid is friendly, but seemed unable to focus and confused. The most frustrating thing was with the serving crew, who had no name tag on, so i cant even do written feed back on. (I dont really want to discuss the lack of training/unprofessional behaviors in the public, since i hated being discussed in the public when I worked in fast food places).
But here is what happened. I was at the pick up area waiting for my order. Saw a tray of food being put on the counter ready for delivery. Saw the slip on the tray which is indeed mine. In the meantime, there appears to be a backlog of sandwiches and someone had been waiting for ~25mins. The serving girl simply took one of the sandwich from my tray and give it out to that customer. I mean i get it, she needs to take care of that customer first for waiting on just one sandwich. But one of the worst thing a crew can do is take food out of a packed tray in serving zone in front of all the customer. She did that, I confronted her for doing it, manager stepped in, she tried to explain the other customer had waited long for his sandwich, and told me another one is coming for my order.
Also, we didnt realize we are missing a biscuit for our combos till we left, guess that is on the packing crew.
For overall food quality, comparing to the ones I had in Ontario, the meat dishes are too salty, and the sides portion seems a bit short.
If they can fix the food and service quality, i would reevaluate the rating and...
