Island Kitchen and Catering — Restaurant in Brampton

Yesterday I visited here for lunch, and I'm so glad I did! Had the jerk chicken dinner with a side of plantain. Yum!!! The chicken was PERFECTLY cooked, so soft and well seasoned, and the oxtail gravy was so flavourful. The BEST you can get in the area! Even the rice and peas (which are usually not a big deal) was SOO good and flavourful. Minor feedback, in the large dinner container maybe include 2 sides because the container has 3 sections (1 large & 2 small), and in mine the large and 1 small section was filled with rice, but I think the small sections should be 2 sides (mac salad, coleslaw, or festival). But I can't complain because it was so good anyway. The plantain was also very yummy. Only feedback I have for that is I typically prefer it fried or grilled so it's a bit less dry. But it was still delicious. The staff were so friendly. The location is very clean, lots of parking, and they even have a nice outdoor seating area. The plaza should really put directional signage because it's not visible from the parking lot, but at least it's visible from the street corner thankfully. First and foremost I don’t ever leave food reviews. We didn’t even get to take photo’s of our food because the second we tasted it, we wouldn’t put our utensils down. The customer service was amazing, the food was immaculate & the portions were huge. Usually it’s always a hit or miss when it comes to Jamaican restaurants, either the food is really good, but the customer service or portions aren’t (vice versa). This is the first time I can truly say everything was spot on. The price is right on all their items as well. I paid $15 for a large half jerk & half bbq chicken meal w/ oxtail gravy, rice and peas and macaroni salad. I’d usually pay $20 for something similar. The oxtail was perfect as well, large portion, not fatty & fall off the bone. Plus it wasn’t overly sweet, it was more savoury which is what it should be. Get some food here ASAP, you won’t...

I don’t usually leave reviews because I find that in many places, the quality and portions tend to change over time. However, Island Kitchen has been consistently impressive! Whether I order online for delivery, pick up, or dine in, the quality and quantity always remain the same. It’s clear they provide the same excellent service and generous portions no matter who is ordering. Absolutely amazing!

I can personally vouch for their fish, festival, and bammy — all incredibly delicious! My husband also loves their fried chicken. No other place comes close to the quality of their escovitch fish. And this Easter, they even had bammy available — something I couldn’t find at any other local restaurant for over 7 years.
