Usually I don’t leave bad reviews or call to complain about food, but I had to this time. I ordered chicken tenders and chicken nuggets for my niece and I. I’m assuming it was cooked fresh cause I saw the one employee bring the tray to the front. When we got home, I started eating my chicken tenders and noticed my tenders had a fishy taste and my tongue started to feel funny. I have a severe seafood allergy and my food tasted like they cooked the seafood products in the same fryer as the chicken. I asked my niece and she said her nuggets tasted like the shrimp popcorn. I decided to call the restaurant to find out if they cooked the food all in the same fryer cause I never experienced this and I always go to this location. I’m assuming it was the manager I spoke to and when I explained my situation, he said they cook the food in separate fryers and when I mentioned my seafood allergy he said they have signs warning about allergies, and assured me there was no cross contamination. Ok fine, but if I order chicken, I’m not expecting my chicken to come tasting like it was cooked with fish. He did offer to replace my food, but what are you going to replace it with? I’m not going to come back to get new food cooked in the same oil I’m clearly having issues with and the restaurant isn’t going to replace the oil midday just to cook me fresh food. I told them I was going to complain to customer service because clearly they’re cooking the chicken and fish in the same oil, if they weren’t my chicken wouldn’t taste like I’m eating seafood, this wasn’t a “it tastes bad” situation, I could have had a bad reaction from this. I called and spoke to someone and even they said it sounds like they are reusing oil that was used for fish and advised me to not eat the food. This is so wrong on many levels. I or anyone else could have had a severe reaction. It’s not my responsibility to make sure a fried chicken restaurant doesn’t mix the oils or mix the chicken and fish. I’ve never ordered chicken from Popeyes and had it served to me tasting like it was fried with fish at the same time. Thankfully I noticed and stopped eating in time, cause I could have had a bed reaction to this.
If you have a seafood allergy I suggest going to a different location and making sure (since apparently now we have to make sure) the restaurant is using fresh and separate oil cause it seems at this location, they cook them both in the same or they don’t change the oil. I came in with my friends and was polite, i heard a bit of talking under the managers breath but didn’t think much of it. Even after I placed my order the people in the front were talking instead of putting our order together. My friend had a question so she went up to ask her question, however before she even finished her questioned they stopped her and assumed she was talking about the order we placed 10 minutes ago. I didn’t appt the fact that they not only assumed things, they also thought they could get away with it because we are kids. After a bit we came back to redeem the prize from the receipt. Before we even came in the manager was looking agitated again. Before I begin, I misunderstood the deal on the receipt and that is my fault however the attitude and disrespect was unnecessary. When i was asking about redeeming it she was being very openly rude about it, raising her voice and pointing, i hate this treatment and it makes it seem like you are acting like im stupid which I hate. As i misunderstood there could’ve been a better way to explain that i was wrong rather than pointing, being vague and acting as if you want me to shoo away. It misunderstood that I was able to redeem my order which is my fault but no one told me otherwise, watching me and my friends wait there. I was confused and approached the front counter to ask about the order and me and the manager got into a bit of a heated argument. It made no sense because as I was asking her before, she did not tell me that i wasn’t able to redeem it, simply placing the receipt on the counter and walking away which made no sense. Yesterday, I decided to dine at the Popeyes chicken restaurant located in the Bramalea City Centre in Brampton.I had ordered a 6pc chicken wing meal and upon receiving the food and taking a bite, I noticed that the texture of the chicken was extremely slimy, chewy and bloody. I suspected that the chicken was under cooked so I approached an employee behind the counter and asked if the chicken looked cooked. They proceeded to explain that the color was from the spicy seasoning used for the wings and that the chicken was fine. I was still unsure so they offered to make another batch for me. I appreciated the fact that they offered me a new batch but the serious issue is serving customers uncooked chicken and proceeding to spread false information. I explained what had happened to some close friends and they noted that they had also experienced some form of food poisoning from the same location in the past. I'm sure that everyone is very aware that serving raw/under cooked chicken is a very serious issue. It's a serious danger to people's health, including mine.
