The Vintage Punjab — Restaurant in Brampton

I went there May.20, 2019, with my friend. We love to eat and eat indian food out alot. We are also indians, so not new to indian food. I love the restaurant, the ambiance, the furniture is very nice. But, the food is nasty! The restaurant is very nice, that's why i am writing this review, else i do not bother to inform the owners of how my experience was. Instead i just boycott it and never go there again and advice my friends to not go there as it's just a waste of money.

We ordered, chicken vindaloo, our mistake we didn't read the description properly but we expected potatoes to be in the sabji. Then when we asked the girl, she inquired in the kitchen and said potatoes were not a part of chicken vindalo, which is very weird though. Anyways, she brought is half of a potato in what looked like shahi paneer gravy. Needless to say that was nasty as it was a boiled potato put in gravy. I did not eat the chicken as it was nasty, skin was on it and just was filled with chili.

Then i ordered a dal tadka, which the restaurant did not have so had to get dal makhani. That wasn't the best but atleast it was edible as i was hungry by that time.

So first we ordered plain naan, which came literally plain! Not even buttered on top! I have never seen plain naan like that. So dry and flaky that turned into papad in 10 min. Then we figured we would have to spend more money to order butter naan. Which were actually good.

The raita i ordered, i cannot believe i paid $4 for a small bowl of raita ! That is a total rip off !!

Needless to say my friend and i will never be visiting your restaurant again. I had looked at your restaurant online to see the menu. We compared it to Firangi, the names of dishes, ambiance etc. We compared prices to our favorite restaurants. And then we decided to go there. Never ever have we spent $53 in an indian restaurant!

Just so you know, we are comparing your restaurant to : Firangi, Sweet Master, Sweet Palace and Friends restaurant. I live 5 min away from your restaurant so i have seen it being renovated and had been waiting for you to open. Now that it has, what a disappointment.

I will never visit your restaurant again as i do not have $50 to spend on garbage food and poor service.

Real Bad Experience - I ordered 1 non veg dish + 1 app for pickup on 14 Feb at 6:50pm. I was told over the phone the order will be ready in 30 min for pickup. I arrive at 7:20pm, waited patiently by the entrance. For next 5-7 minutes, over 3 different staff walked by..no one bothered to ask me why I was there for. They acted as if i was invisible!!

At 7:30pm, I stopped a server and told her - I am here for pickup...can you please check for my order. She confirmed my order - went to the kitchen...never came to speak with me for the entire duration. After another 6 minutes, I stopped another staff member, enquired..she asked - Sir, is it Uber pickup? I was No!! I ordered over the phone...was told 30 min...now it is close to 50 minutes...she was Oh we are very busy today!! (no apologies or request to check for my food). At this point, I looked around and told her this does not look busy...there were hardly 4 different tables full with couple in each!!!

I waited for another 5 minutes for my food or an update on the food..it was NO WHERE. At 7:46pm - I stopped another server (3rd one who walked by me multiple times) and asked for a Manager. I texted my wife just then and was about to walk out and do a pickup somewhere else. The server said I will get a Manager - i saw her walk towards the kitchen area...speak with a lady who was a manager (i know cause i saw her answer the phone multiple times)...looked at me and turned around. She and the server just stood there...waiting ignoring me. Just after few minutes, the first server i spoke to...at 7:20pm...came up and said - Sir, your food is ready!

At this point, i had made up my mind to leave..but i paid, grabbed by bag and left. This is another 6 minutes after I had asked for a manager and she kept starting at me. I walked out looking at her and she didnt even want to come speak with me.

I hate when such fancy decor places open up who have no sense of Customer service...I will never come back to this place again and highly recommend people to expect negative service...

So after my several visits at this restaurant i decided to put a review. When i came here for the first time it was newly opened restaurant and the food was decent but the service was pathetic but i thought of not putting a review since it was a newly opened restaurant and i thought of giving them a chance and even after 3-4 more visits nothing changed except the taste and quality of the food. Service remained pathetic. And today it was my 5th time i went there and yes LAST TIME as well and the experience today was completely different. The server guy tells me we are not allowed to give onions with food even when i said I’m ready to pay extra. And then comes the pathetic food in the name of butter chicken which was more of tomato soup as the butter chicken was completely different from what i had for the first time. Mirchi parantha were not made properly as well. I feel sorry for the owner as he should close this restaurant and open a horse stable which will be more worth it than serving people with this kinda bad quality food and such pathetic and arrogant servers. I am myself a manager at a restaurant and I understand how important customer service is which these people are way far off.
