THE GOOD: Dining in will be very relaxing because it’s very clean inside! I expected the garbage bins to be overflowing like Tim Horton’s & McDonald’s etc., but here it was passable.
I dined in after the supper rush, around 7:30 pm, so the washrooms, were also clean, which is a rarity for restaurants, fast food or otherwise, in the GTA. There are 2 small stalls & 1 large stall for handicapped patrons. The floor was NOT sticky!!! Surprised actually.
The new ‘Brew Bar’ has a large selection of espressos, lattes, chai, & there are new smoothies & milkshakes here for the drink menu. The macchiato & vanilla lattes were scrumptious & a great dessert. Oh, there’s apple pies available for those customers who have a sweet tooth!
Staff were doing their best to serve everyone with a smile & were friendly, which is great to see for a fast food chain. Free A&W Root Beer today was advertised on the sign board by the street, but most were not coming into the restaurant for this and maybe used drive thru for the freebie! lol
THE BAD: The only negative things that the management could improve on is having the tables wiped down regularly after the dinner rush because it was sticky & some chairs were not wiped down. (I watched a couple move to another table when they saw the crumbs on the first table.)
The drive thru person should NOT have to alternate between there & the front counter; It slows down efficiency at both places and 1 EXTRA staff member is needed for the summer rush. Maybe management could hire another worker for weeknights between 6-10 pm???
Also, why don’t any of the major fast food chains like this one have garbage bins that are bigger than the teeny tiny, circular design I’m seeing everywhere??? Could anyone at the head office address this?! Garbage fills fast & unless there is a dedicated person working in the lobby (like Wendy’s usually has) it can make for a sloppy lobby, during the breakfast, lunch, & supper rush.
Prices have gone up a lot. The Uncle burger combo cost almost $20 with a medium, special coffee instead of the pop.
It’s always nice to visit a restaurant that represents the diverse population of a city, but here ALL of the staff working were of one ethnic background & mostly one gender. Whatever happened to appreciating the...
Read moreSecond problem with this place within less than a week. . First time i came here i went to the drive thru to order 4 56 buddy burgers, ended up getting 2 with burnt buns to the point all we could taste was burnt flavors. The other 2 where so wet and greesy it was like someone soaked them.
I came to this same location a few days ago, i placed my order with the guy @ the counter abd told him i would like TWO 55 buddt burgers. . So he punches in one ans charges me 4 something. . i asked him, "you put two in right? " he says oh no sir i only put in one, so i ask him to add another.
The girl behind the counter makes the one buddy burger, the guy tells her theres 2 with my order and she shakes her head and proceeded to make about 4 other peoples order (inside) then about 3 - 5 people thru the drive thru befor proceeding to make my second buddy burger (allmost 10 - 15 mins after the first one was sitting) by the time i got my second burger the first one was cold and wilted.
The girl makeing the food behind the counter needs some searous custom service training / people skills.
she knew my burger was sitting there and deliberately made me wait tull everyone else was served - not only did i feel discriminating resignation within her, but an overwhelming power hungey employee with no care to cater to the customers needs but rather her own priorities.
if i could give lower than 1...
Read moreI've loved A&W since i was a child, and have eaten it many times all over the place; generally the food and service is as good or better then expected. This particular location has made a habbit in our past three visits of forgetting items from our order, or not making items as requested.
This latest visit the manager Ann specified that she was going to make sure our order was correct, when we got home, two items missing. So we went online to find the number to the store to complain. Go figure, the numbers avaliable online are mostly incorrect or no longer in service. After some searching we found a 647 number for this location which seemed odd as tgey are mostly cell numbers but called it anyway. Asked for Ann and was told that she had gone home after we explained the situation. Finally asked for the general manager to call us back. After explaining this to the general manager she specified that if we wanted to drive back over that they would remedy the situation with a "free order of whatever we wanted". Sounded good to us so we went back and asked for 3 burgers, guess what... Apparently that was not reasonable. We ended up with one burger and a couple of wraps.
Shame on you A&W, even loyal customers...
