Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Brandon

The greeter at the door was polite, upbeat & friendly. We didn't wait long at all to be seated. However once seated we waited 15 minutes or more just for the waitress to attend to use. No Ice Water was offered, So we proceeded to order our drinks & dinner. I mentioned to the waitress that I was Highly Allergic to Peanut & Nut Products along with Pepper's. I requested that the Chef be extremely careful to keep my order away from any of those products. We then waited 45 minutes (In which time we were not asked if we required refills on our drinks). After such a long wait we then were informed by the Waitress that the Chef had just notice the Allergy Alert & realized that there was in fact tree nuts in the bread used for my meal. This I found to be unacceptable do to the fact it WAS NOT listed on the Menu. People such as myself Have extreme Allergic Reactions to Peanut & Other Nut Products along with Pepper's. For this information not to be listed on the menu by the product in my opinion is completely unacceptable. I read the menu a number of times and chose this item for the simple fact there were no peppers or peanuts listed in the making of this dish. It was my birthday dinner & I felt as though it was ruined due to this. We left and went to another restaurant which we were lucky enough to find. 1- staff was pleasant. No complaints. 2- place was filthy and sticky. Definitely not busy (only 1/2 full at 6:00 Sat.) the floor had more food on it than our table, like c’mon people, it was bad. 3- bottom half of my bun was rock hard. I don’t know what was going on there, was as hard as the plate. Kinda funny. 4- i realize the food will never look as good as it does in the pics, but can you at least try a lil bit? Def not very appetizing to look at. 5- didn’t taste horrible, but can’t say it was all that great either. None of us finished everything. 6- tried to make a reservation earlier in the day, but was told “we’re all booked up, but you can try to walk in” literally 1/2 empty. It didn’t take long to figure out why. It has been 5 years since we had been there. It’ll be 10 before we try again. When it’s slow like that, at least make sure you have the tables clean and sweep the floor a bit. The service was okay, our server was very friendly. The food was incredibly disappointing. 7 oz Med rare steak came out extremely well done, dried out and strangely small. The server requested a new steak. When the new one was brought out by someone else, it was substantially larger, but just as well done. Note a drop of juice. I declined any further tries, and it was removed from my bill. The mashed potatoes were bland and not well mashed. Green beans were water logged. The classic Bacon cheeseburger, the patty was dry ad unseasoned. On a positive note, the side Caesar salad and a four cheese mac and cheese were fairly good, but not nearly enough to make up for the experience. This was our first visit to this location, having had good experiences at other locations prior.
