I went in for the breakfast special a few weeks ago. For what the sign posted on the window stated "breakfast special $4.99 before 11am" it does not state that this isn't an option on weekends. I went in because I had a bit extra money to finally enjoy a breakfast I didn't have to cook myself and when I went to order the server had told me that's only weekdays and it says right in the menu. I was fine with this, but I did not like that she went over to the other employees and laughed about it. I really think it's unprofessional and they should also change the false advertising sign in their window. I have been going there for years now and that will be my last time going because of the unprofessional and disrespecting way they went about it. I really did not mind what so ever paying a few extra dollars for my meal, the rest of my time there she didn't come back and ask if we needed anything else, I had to ask for a refill from a different server. Every other time I have been there I have been greeted by their boss with a happy smile, but after she had gone over and laughed about my misfortune, I was not greeted what so ever. This was I'm guessing a newer employee because the ones who have been there for a while have always been great to me. But, new or not, it is not an excuse to treat guests in such a way. I know very it isn't polite to not tip, but my tip depends on your service. It is very unfortunate that I won't be back because I did enjoy their food. Koodos to the...
Read moreOur recent visit to Sunset Grill was frustrating due to a series of unreasonable policies and poor service.
1)Inflexible Menu Rules for My Wife’s Order—My wife’s usual order includes eggs cooked in any style, but this time, they refused to make it as an omelette. Instead, they insisted she could only get sunny-side-up eggs under the "light breakfast" option. This made no sense, as omelettes are just another way to prepare eggs.
2)Unfair Ingredient Substitution Policy for My Order— I initially asked to swap a veggie for cheese in my omelette, which should have been fine since both are charged as the same add-on price. This request was denied. Instead, I was told I could only replace a veggie with another veggie—so I went ahead with that.
3)Sudden Change After Order Was Placed— After taking our order, the server returned to inform me that no substitutions were allowed at all. I was told I had to "build my own omelette," which would unnecessarily increase the price—even though the total number of ingredients remained the same. This back-and-forth wasted our time, and rather than deal with such an inflexible and frustrating experience, we decided to cancel our food order and only paid for the coffee we had already received.
We left feeling disappointed and unwelcome. Whether this was just poor management or something else, we won’t...
Read moreMy review might be as confusing as the experience. I literally waffled about how I felt about this sunset grill the ENTIRE time I was there. There were points I was ready to walk out and points where I felt like it was kind of good. We waited almost 10 minutes in a cramped doorway (because they don't allow you to seat yourself - even though it was a weekday and the restaurant was quiet) and while we waited, getting jostled by people leaving the staff made a concerted effort to avoid making any eye contact with us for any reason. They didn't acknowledge us, just pretended like we were dead. The owner or manager was behind the counter and without even a glance decided to make a phone call, rather than bothering to put us at a table. I was ready to walk out when a waitress came up, apologized and seated us. This particular Sunset Grill carries gluten free bread, so I placed my order and it was there in a flash. I was getting pretty happy about the entire experience, until I went to pay. Again, the manager or owner or whatever he was, was just as flippant and rude as he was while he ignored us to make a phone call when we first walked in. I guess all I can say is "The food is pretty good, they carry gluten free bread and if you plan on going here, bring a lawn chair so you have a place to sit while the staff...
