Wingmaster might just be the best wings, in brantford and surrounding areas that is a fact. But it has many problems as well.
First and foremost, the wings are perfect. I have been coming here for years and the wings are always perfectly cooked and the oil is never burnt. The flavor game is on point and with chicken wings that is especially important. If you want awesome wings with a unique flavor or even a flavor you know a love, you can't go wrong going to wingmaster.
Now for the bad. Wingmaster suffers from its own success in the fact that many of Treys combinations and flavors are amazing, but he doesnt let you break down orders into multiple flavors. I would like 2 pounds wings in the form of 4 flavors but it just seems impossible and ive asked his numerous staff over the years if its possible to even pay a slight premium to do it. Answer is always a no.
Going off that, Trey has had numerous staff come and go over the years. Im not connected to Trey, ive never worked for him and I dont know anyone personally who has. But over the years I have heard Trey insult, belittle and yell at his employees while picking up orders or dining in. I would say its about 50/50 if i walk in and someone is being screamed at.
Additonally, the menu is updated quite a bit and many flavors are lost due to logistical or manufacturing reasons which is fine, but the physical menu is never updated unless its to raise prices, and one year he raised the prices, not even an attempt to marker it out or have a small sign at the counter. Numerous times Ive placed an order online, come pick it up and im told the flavor I wanted is no longer in production.
The prices are absolutely ludicrous and have only gotten worse post-covid. I paid over 40 dollars for 20 chicken wings, this included a 591ml pop and doesnt include tip. 40 dollars and I cant have that 20 divided up into 5 wings each of a different flavor.
So if you love chicken wings, you must try wingmaster, but it really ends there. Trey is trying to make the best wings and in a few ways I would say hes successful or on the path to success, but in the way of business, he fails in many ways. The perfect wing is more than the wing itself, its the experience, the customization and while at first glace trey offers variety and customization, its an illusion. Its trey's way or the highway. Repeat business is hard to recommend. Other dedicated wing places are almost just as good, but offer such a better environment for a much...
Read moreThe moment I walked into this fine establishment, I could feel it in the air that this wasn't your average wing restaurant. Despite the mind boggling number of (as of now) 289 different flavours, each flavour has its unique story. Every wing has been blessed with the wit and the experience of The Wingmaster himself, with no piece of wing being prepared without love. The first bite of every round will leave you already wanting for the next, all the while you get lost in the sauce.
The service was amazing, the chef told our group about his upbringing, the origins of his wings and what made him into the man that he is today. Every round the employees would keep a keen eye on us, keeping a great timing on asking us what we wanted for the next round. Not only did the wings tasted amazing, the selection of beverages offered were more than enough to quench our thirst during our meal. The place was kept real tidy, especially the bathroom.
I personally tried the hottest wings listed on the menu, called "FAST ‘N FURIOUS XX (3M+)," and I'd say it was the best decision I've ever made when it comes to wings. Unlike any other wings, where they focus too much on the spiciness to the point of losing its taste, the FAST 'N FURIOUS XX tasted like a proper, delicious wing, all the while bringing up the heat to the MAX!
11/10, I would come back whenever I have the chance...
Read moreDon't bother-So my boyfriend introduced me to Wingmaster 3 1/2 years ago, and I was immediately hooked- it's been the go to place for wings and i'd eat them until i was ready to burst, but the last year and half it's continued to be a disappointment. we say not again and then we would go back a couple months later and give it another try - and after yet another let down, we would swear we'd never go back, this has gone on throughout the whole bull@rap of the discontinue of loyalty points for free wings, the very well burnt wings, the not so bang-y cajun bangs (we get the cajun dry and cajun bang) that look and taste the exact same as the cajun dry, the not so dilly creamy dill wings- more like soggy salad dressing wings, the soggy deep fried pickles, the 45 minute wait in a snow storm after the 45 minute wait they said they'd be.... I could go on. But tonight was the last straw. What wing place charges you extra for the carrots and celery? Does anyone know why the wings are covered in a huge breaded tooth breaking coating? Or why there's a pound of salt added to them to the point you can'y even taste the cajun? we ordered 2 lbs cajun dry and 2 lbs cajun bang, and there was do difference taste-wise (again ) and it cost us $60! Not worth the money anymore, you're better off going to the Keg for an extra $20. Don't...
