tl;dr: mediocre(for the price) & slow food, bad service, bad for low carb, never going again
We came to this restaurant to try out the food, since it was apparently the best rated dine-in place in tsawwassen mills. There were several red flags as soon as we arrived. In hindsight, we should've left as soon as we got to the counter.
There was a line at the reception, and the place isn't even near half full. When we got to the desk, the hostess told us that the kitchen is backed up and they'd need about 10 minutes till they could seat us (which is strange because you could just tell us that then seat us anyways). Still took about 45 minutes after placing the order and waiting the 10 extra minutes or so for our food to arrive, which isn't the worst I've had, but it's far from the best.
Secondly, the waiter, while being nice (which is a baseline), took forever to check in with us while ordering, even though the restaurant was far from full, and there was at least another waitress and the manager serving the indoor area. He also got my order of caesar salad side wrong, and thought I meant spring salad when I said I wanted no croutons in my caesar salad. He didn't even check in on us once after serving, or during the long wait for the meal, until I asked another waitress passing by for some more water. Then, even getting the bill took way too long. The one good point is that our waiter did try his best to find out information on the dishes from the chef when we asked.
Third was the food. I ordered a lettuce wrapped mushroom burger with a side of salad, and the person with me ordered just a spinach and artichoke dip with tortillas. The burger was pretty sad, 1 layer of mushrooms under a small slice of brie, though it had ample onions and other garnishes. The burger patty itself was kinda lacking the fats you'd expect to ooze out of a burger, and it looked like it was burnt to a crisp on the outside, which I do like, but that doesn't mean the inside should be like a desert. As well, the lettuce wrap which I specifically asked if they would do, was just 2 sad small pieces of romaine on either side, not holding the burger together at all. I've gotten better lettuce wraps from the A&W down the street from there. The bacon they put in the caesar salad side, when it finally arrived, tasted like packaged candied bacon (I should mention that the bacon is listed as bacon under caesar salad on the menu, and not as candied bacon like elsewhere), and it was dry as hell with none of the grease required to make it taste decent. Then when I tasted a bit of the artichoke dip, I immediately noticed that there was a starchy texture in it. The last place you'd expect thickener, a creamy, oily, and cheesy dip, has a very noticeable amount of flour in it. I asked the waiter at the end of our meal and he confirmed that it does indeed have flour.
My verdict for the burger is: it's quite terrible for the price (although the brie can potentially be pricey, but they only put a tiny amount, and the amount of mushroom on it wasn't exactly satisfactory for the premium on the burger). You can get better at fatburger for little more than half the price, and the only thing you'd miss is the brie. I only ate one of the tortillas, but it was nice and warm, with a good crunch. Everything falls apart at the dip with that flour added, making it a terrible mouth-feel. The flour being completely and utterly unnecessary only made my opinion of it worse, as it seems like a way to cut costs while making to portions seem larger at the expense of the customer's experience. It'd be perfectly fine to have a slightly smaller dip portion but skip the flour. All in all, the food was...
Read moreI recently visited Milestones Tsawwassen for brunch with my mom, and unfortunately, it was one of the most disappointing experiences we’ve had — especially compared to other Milestones locations like Surrey or White Rock, and other restaurants like Earls and Cactus Club.
We ordered the Seafood Chowder, Seafood Eggs Benedict, and Blackened Chicken Tagliarini. The chowder was the highlight — warm, hearty, and generously filled with seafood and vegetables. The Eggs Benedict was decent ; the poached eggs were cooked well, though one was noticeably smaller, which threw off the presentation. The red pepper relish was also too sweet and overpowered the horseradish flavor that I was expecting to shine through.
The real issue was the Blackened Chicken Tagliarini, which turned out to be a complete letdown. This was my mom’s first time trying pasta at Milestones, and it left such a poor impression that she’s hesitant to go back. The chicken breast was slightly burnt — we had to trim off the charred edges — but the bigger problem was the pasta itself. It was clearly overcooked, clumped together, and sticky, making it hard to twirl with a fork or eat comfortably. The creamy Cajun sauce was far too greasy and thick, which only made the texture worse. Instead of a smooth, flavorful pasta dish, we got a heavy, gluey mess. After just one bite, my mom didn’t want to continue. She actually started feeling sick from the texture alone.
When our server came to check in, I mentioned the noodle issue. Rather than listening, she quickly blamed the sauce for the stickiness — which didn’t make sense, since we’ve had creamy pasta elsewhere that wasn’t a tangled, overcooked lump. She did offer to bring us something else, but by that point, my mom had lost her appetite and just wanted to leave. I began packing up the pasta simply to avoid wasting food — not because we were okay with it.
When I mentioned to the manager that they should pass on the feedback, her response was surprisingly dismissive. She repeated the excuse about the sauce and told me that if I hadn’t packed the food already, she could’ve offered a discount or replacement. I was stunned. I had packed it within 30 seconds, out of courtesy — not approval — and yet that basic gesture was used as a reason to deny any resolution. Her tone felt defensive and unprofessional, making the situation even more unpleasant.
In the end, we felt uncomfortable staying any longer. We paid the bill and left as soon as we could.
This visit left a bad taste — not just because of the sticky pasta, but because of how poorly our concerns were handled. I’ve received far more respectful and constructive service at other Milestones locations, and especially at places like Earls and Cactus Club, where feedback is treated seriously and graciously. I hope Milestones Tsawwassen takes this review as a call to improve both food consistency and...
Read moreHave been going to this resturant with friends for awhile now but I haven’t been happy at all with the food. Now my friends know why I hate going there as they are now experiencing the same issues. Every time I have been in the last few months the portions are always different for dishes I’ve ordered before. I ordered the goat cheese platter a few times and every time I got it I received a different amount of cheese. One day you get a good chunk but there are times you don’t get enough to spread on more than 2 pieces of the bread that comes with it. Yesterday was the last time I will be eating at this location. I ordered the goat cheese (a appy that costs around $13) and asked for no red pepper jelly/jam on top of the cheese. When my food arrived not to my surprise they put some on top. I sent it back and instead of giving me a new one they just cut the top off my cheese. When they did that I lost a good portion of goat cheese with it. When they brought it back there was still jelly on it and I was missing half the cheese. I asked her for a new one since I didn’t feel paying $13 for half the amount I was supposed to get was fair. She said oh my god I’m so sorry I’ll fix it. But came back 2 seconds later and the chef thought he could just cut that part out of my already shrinking appy and then melt the cheese a bit on that side to make it look like he switched it. I was completely baffled at how stupid she thought I was when she said she saw him make me a whole new order. Even my husband didn’t understand how they made it so fast. My husband ordered the taco bowl for $18 and the bowl wasn’t even half full when at the Langley location he got a full one. I’m really really upset with how they are charging so much for food then trying to undercut people. Please avoid the...
