To start, I’m from New York and when I visited Bagel Barn, I had just returned from a trip to Manhattan where I ate a lot of bagels… I prefer NY style to Montreal as I only eat savoury bagels so the sweetness of a MTL doesn’t interest me, so I was interested to try a place selling NY style. The pros: I had a club on sesame and it was excellent, I took two Barn Spice home. These bagels compare favourably with those in NYC for size and chew. The cons: I found the flavours to be too trendy, most bagel shops offer the old standards (onion, garlic, pumpernickel, salt…) I see they advertise pumpernickel, but there wasn’t a bin for them the day I visited. I had no idea what Barn Spice meant, it seems like salt, pepper, and maybe parmesan cheese(?), very good, but not my favourite. The other issue I had was the lack of a scallion or chive cream cheese, while this isn’t the only shop that omits this flavour, it’s a standard in the NY shops. If they have the flavours you like, the bagels and sandwiches are excellent, if you’re more of a boring traditionalist like me, you’ll be just a tad disappointed.

Disgusting, asked for something lighter than a bagel for my senior dad that would be softer. I Was recommended a bagel dog and the bun was still too hard for my dad to eat so he slipped it out of the bagel bun and found mold. I was only a 5 min drive away and gave it right to him. I already ate mine :( and thought it wasn’t he best but I guess this is what you pay for. It’s not a mistake- moldy food is from negligence/poor kitchen hygiene practices. Nasty. **Post owner comment** Added photo of the cream cheese I purchased yesterday, check your receipts for 2 hot dogs ,1 cream cheese and 2 bagels (order value $30-40). and staff was young blonde girl ponytail while you had another brunette working counter and 2 guys in the kitchen approximately 1 pm. Your denial of a real customer probably correlates to your moldy hot dogs.

Bagel Barn is my favourite bagel shop in Burlington! The moment you step in, you’re greeted by the inviting aroma of fresh bagels baking. The selection is fantastic, with everything from classic plain and barn spice and creative options like french toast and my personal favourite pizza bagels! My boyfriend and I usually get the Barn BELT and Bacon Ham and Cheese bagels, they are always outstanding and have great toppings. The staff is incredibly friendly and efficient, making the whole experience even better. A special thanks to Justin for helping us with our order! Bagel Barn is perfect for enjoying your bagel on-site or grab and go. I will definitely continue to make this a stop in my Saturday morning routine!

Review based on first experience: Myself and my friend came into bagel barn on Good Friday. This was my first time going to bagel barn as I am a long term JCs Bagel go-er but I wanted to try it out since Bagel Barn has so many different flavours of cream cheese and bagels that I’ve never had at JCs. The girl that served us was so incredibly nice and we had zero complaints. The service was good, organized and the food was great. We actually left there thinking we have to go back.

Review based on second experience: My second experience was Saturday April 19th, the day after Good Friday. We loved the bagels so much we wanted to come and try more flavours. My friend came in and ordered a French Toast with caramel cream cheese and cheddar and onion bagel with French onion cream cheese. I had to wait a couple minutes longer than her since there were other people before us, no problem. While we were waiting, we noticed that the older man at the counter (gave off manager or owner vibes- didn’t have the same shirts on as the employees) seemed super annoyed, flustered and irritated. I ordered my French toast bagel with maple walnut cream cheese and pizza bagel with garlic dill pickle cream cheese. The couple in front of us had a younger male worker making their bagels and when the man was asking what they ordered, he ended up getting confused by what the younger worker said. Our bagels came up and ours were switched- this was not the girls that did our orders fault. The older man at cash was mixing up everyone’s orders and getting visibly irritated and peeved (sighing and rolling his eyes) when he thought that the younger workers were making mistakes. I’ve had bosses that treated me like that in front of customers and it was only ever worse behind the scenes. This behaviour made both my friend and myself uncomfortable. It’s funny that there were the same amount of people in the store yesterday when there were no mistakes as there was today in store when the older man was making the mistakes. Thinking back on his actions and the fact that he wasn’t wearing the same shirt as the employees makes me feel like he’s an owner or manager that looks down on the employees. Safe to say that we will not be back for a while. We will give them another chance in a couple months in hopes that they see this and make some changes but based on the owners responses to reviews, I highly doubt that. It’s a shame because their bagels were...

Went there this morning to check it out. I will preface that I know this is relatively new and there are some kinks to work out, below are my observations.

Bagels seem to be of good quality, I bought a half dozen (more on that below), and tried a jalapeño cheddar at home. Toasted well, still nice and soft, good taste. Looking forward to trying the sesame later. Very different than what JC’s offers, which is arguably an institution in Burlington and management should not be surprised of reviews comparing against them. I think I still prefer JCs however I will consider Bagel Barn again based on taste.

When I arrived there were a few people ahead of me, I took this opportunity to get an idea of what they served. I was hungry and would have considered a sandwich, however there were no menu boards posted anywhere, screens were off. I have no idea what they serve. Man loading the oven appeared to either be manager or owner, he was rude to both staff and customers. Service inside was overall awful, no friendly greetings, no help with anyone looking to order, etc.

I opted to do my usual and order a dozen bagels. They also don’t do that, only a half dozen. Very odd for a bagel place, I asked why to the cashier, was told the bagel making is a 3 day process and they don’t want to sell out. Figure out your volume and produce accordingly, if I want to buy a dozen, I should be able to.

Bagel was good, experience upon arrival to departure was highly disappointing, enough to discourage me from making this a regular stop - and I’m in that plaza 5 days a week for other reasons.

My review score is based on 4 stars for quality and taste, and a very generous 2 stars for service and experience - I will give them benefit of the doubt to resolve this for...

Be ready to get charged for slicing your bagel ... Today went to order 18 bagels at 9:30am, and there was 1 person behind me, so it wasn't so busy. I asked the lady to please slice the bagel for me, she said only with an extra charge... Me and wife used to buy from BB at least twice a month. But we can't encourage this, enough with that, everything is going up, can't support another reason for inflation.

I must response to reply as it contains incorrect information. 1- there was 2 people behind me not 10, check your security camera. There were 2 people serving, so the ratio is 1 to 1, again check your security camera. 2- I did not attack or disrespect anyone, the girl i talked to was nice and I talked to the man there, I told him if I have to pay for slicing the begals then I will cancel the order, he responded sorry there is a charge to slicing the bagels. I responded then cancel the order and I walked away. Check your security camera. 3- If I really did any of what you said, show it to me and I will delete my review. 4- Don't deviate from my review point, I didn't lie and I was specific to what happened, so please don't come up with stories that didn't happen. 5- again, prove to me that any of what I said is not true, and I will apologize, otherwise you will have to apologize for the misinformation you are posting and accept honest reviews. 6- look at my review stars, even though I wasn't happy with you trying extra charge me for SLICING bagels, I was honest and still gave your food 4 stars, and if it was the best; I wouldn't hesitate to give you even 5 stars...
