Wow. I’d ask what happened, but I know. I have been going to this amazing restaurant for 17 years. Never a problem, never an issue, great food, friendly staff. Unfortunately they sold the restaurant and the new owners are not doing a good job.
In the past few months, all the family have left, and now there have been numerous issues with the food. I have had to return overcooked omelettes, raw poached eggs, and burnt mains. They are clearly trying to cut costs by reducing certain things and hoping we don’t notice... but they raised the prices. For example if you upgraded your spaghetti for a premium price, you could get it blanketed with sautéed mushrooms - now you get a little scoop. If you add gravy to your potatoes, you get a very small scoop that doesn’t even come close to being enough. If you got the end pieces of toast, you would get a third slice since the were smaller. Now? Two small slices. One package of crackers with the soup instead of two. All may be considered minor, but when you look st the big picture, it’s a pattern.
We have gone back over and over and over in the last few months, hoping that they were just having growing pains, but last night, for the first time, my family walked out. After waiting for an hour, food finally arrived - with multiple mistakes (burnt meat, undertoasted soggy bread, the WRONG bread (asked for white, got whole wheat) gravy on the wrong plate... after making it clear that my son could not have gravy...
So, sadly, I can’t give them any more chances. The staff are leaving in droves, the prices have gone up, the quality down... I am all for independent non- chain restaurants, but come on! Make an effort!! If I could give zero stars, I would have. So sad to see how the place has nosedived with every experience worse than...
Read moreWe to Mount Royal Resterant on Saturday for lunch with the family, first time since Covid. The service was bad a young girl, not the regular girls and the food was even worse! We ordered simple meals, grill cheese and fries and 3 club sandwiches, 2 with poutine, the other just sandwich. It was a long wait for our food and there was maybe 9 tables that had people at them and most of them had there food. We finally got our food and my poutine was cold, sandwich was cold. The grill cheese and fries cold. So we sent it back! The other 2 meals also cold but they didn't want to send them back. We got our meals back, the grill cheese.... you could have used as a door stopper it was rock hard and the fries were over done. Need less to say a few fries eaten, grill cheese not touched. The poutine I received back was soaking on gravy, you could not even eat the fries as they became soggy and gross. Had a few bites that was it, the sandwich was still cold but I ate it as I was straving. I told him not to pay for his meal that he only ate a few fries, but he did anyways. We also asked for another coffee when she brought back our food and that also never came! I spoke to on of the regular waitresses on the way out to advise what happen. She told me there is only 3 waitresses, 4 in total but 3 on Saturday, and it's busy and people were still coming in at 130 and they close at 2. Advised her that most of the people had already been served when we sat down, and if 3 waitresses can't do it then get more staff or limit the amount of people coming in. Also told her she should lock the door at 1 so no other people come in as they close at 2. Bad management, food and service. I use to go there at least ever 2 weeks pre covid. In...
Read moreWish I could give no stars, me and my friend come in and wait about 7 minutes to be served and when the woman finally comes to the cash she does not even look at us never mind greet us. I asked if they had vegan pizza and she didn't even know what vegan was. I asked how much fries were and she was like " why are you asking me all these questions" and hands me a panflit with items on it. I told her that as an owner which she is, even as an employee that you should know all the prices. I would know this because I work in the fast food industry. I ended up ordering fries, they took about 6 minutes. She rang them up on the scanner and my friend said it should have been 50 cents more but they updated the price on the panflit, but not the board. We told her that and she showed no signs of caring. I took my fries and wanted some hot sauce but I noticed that the bottle was almost empty so I asked if we could get more hot sauce. She co,es fro, around the counter and grabs the bottle, I thought she was going to get a new bottle but then I see her lift up the lid to the container and she starts pouring the sauce on my fries, I was in shock but then I realized how much she has put on so I said "Okay stop, that's good", she continued to pour it until I grabbed the container and she said like "more spicy muhaaha" or some weird thing like that. She was trying to ruin my fries. I was worried that she spit on them because I couldn't see her making them back there. But at least the fries were...
