UPDATE: To the owner who replied 3 months ago trying to save their rep. I can assure you I am not affiliated with Hakka Fresh. Just because someone critiques your food quality and compares you to competition that is in very close proximity of your restaurant does not mean that any negative reviews you get mentioning another restaurant is them trying to take you down. You sound dumb.
And yes, your food is terrible. No one said that Chinese food is not cooked with Vegetable oil, I'm just pointing out that YOUR food, SPECIFICALLY the fried rice I received, was clearly fried in butter or margarine and did not taste anything like Chinese food I've had anywhere else - and NOT in a good way. Just look at all the other negative reviews that you received. Do Better.
And regarding your claim that I must have not eaten there because you "could not find any transaction for Spicy Beef on that day"..that's laughable, and it's probably because the lady that served me originally took my order for a chicken dish and I asked her to change it to Spicy Beef, so you're just confirming to me that she ENTERED MY ORDER WRONG IN YOUR CASH TILL and just charged me the same price because lunch specials are all the same price lol Just stop while you're ahead.
ORIGINAL: TERRIBLE chinese food. I ordered the spicy beef lunch special with fried rice on a Wednesday.
First off - the fried rice was fried in either BUTTER OR MARGARINE...so it had this really sour smell to it that hit my nose as soon as I opened the container of food. I thought I was served rice that had gone bad...but realized that they fried the rice in butter or margarine. yuck.
The spicy beef was OKAY - but not on par with any of the other chinese restaurants in the city. a big waste of time and money.
I should have just gone to Hakka Fresh up the street, literally in the same plaza.
The lady that served me was pleasant enough, but that doesn't make up for how trash the...
Read moreMy initial review was 5 stars and written below. We had not gone here for a couple months but ordered yesterday. We go the usual dishes we get. I noticed a huge deterioration in the quality of the food. The lemon chicken we ordered had very hard batter almost impossible to chew. The black pepper beef was so grissly and tough it was impossible to eat and we threw it out. Spring rolls are still good as was the fried rice and noodles but the main dishes were terrible.
I have recommened this place to so many people. Maybe this was just a bad night but with the costs significantly higher than when they first opened the quality should still be good but it was not.
Not sure if I will ever go back.
Below is my initial review from when we first went and they first opened.
I pride myself in knowing good chinese food. I've lived in Hong Kong and traveled to Asia many times. Have also tried virtually every Chinese restaurant in Burlington and many across Ontario. Many places I've liked have either gone out of business or have had the quality of their food go down drastically. Well I decided to try the food here as the reviews looked good and I was blown away. We ordered a dinner for 2 and it did us more than 2 meals and the quality of the food was amazing. The people who work there are extremely friendly. This will now be my go to restaurant as I want to try everything on their menu. Oh and the prices...
Read moreWhen we arrived, we thought the service might be slow since there was only one very friendly lady working. But we were pleasantly surprised! On this 35-degree summer day, she offered us some delicious, refreshing drinks that really hit the spot. The place was cool and comfortable inside, and she welcomed us with a big smile and a great attitude.
While showing us the menu, she was also handing out takeout orders. We noticed the prices were very reasonable and the dishes looked really appealing.
Honestly, we thought it would take a while, but as soon as we placed our order, plates started coming out every three minutes. Everything was freshly made with fresh ingredients and tasted great — not too spicy, not too salty, and perfectly cooked. The dishes arrived piping hot, and we were surprised by the generous portions! Definitely more than enough for lunch.
The best part was the kindness. We came with kids, and when they asked for more drinks, she happily served them without hesitation. At the end, when we paid, she gave us some tasty Chinese candies and a fortune cookie. She mentioned the food is authentic Chinese cuisine, and I really loved it — especially since it was my first time visiting a Chinese restaurant.
I would definitely come back without hesitation. Delicious food, wonderful service, and a very pleasant place. I give it a...
