UPDATE: To the owner who replied 3 months ago trying to save their rep. I can assure you I am not affiliated with Hakka Fresh. Just because someone critiques your food quality and compares you to competition that is in very close proximity of your restaurant does not mean that any negative reviews you get mentioning another restaurant is them trying to take you down. You sound dumb.

And yes, your food is terrible. No one said that Chinese food is not cooked with Vegetable oil, I'm just pointing out that YOUR food, SPECIFICALLY the fried rice I received, was clearly fried in butter or margarine and did not taste anything like Chinese food I've had anywhere else - and NOT in a good way. Just look at all the other negative reviews that you received. Do Better.

And regarding your claim that I must have not eaten there because you "could not find any transaction for Spicy Beef on that day"..that's laughable, and it's probably because the lady that served me originally took my order for a chicken dish and I asked her to change it to Spicy Beef, so you're just confirming to me that she ENTERED MY ORDER WRONG IN YOUR CASH TILL and just charged me the same price because lunch specials are all the same price lol Just stop while you're ahead.

ORIGINAL: TERRIBLE chinese food. I ordered the spicy beef lunch special with fried rice on a Wednesday.

First off - the fried rice was fried in either BUTTER OR MARGARINE...so it had this really sour smell to it that hit my nose as soon as I opened the container of food. I thought I was served rice that had gone bad...but realized that they fried the rice in butter or margarine. yuck.

The spicy beef was OKAY - but not on par with any of the other chinese restaurants in the city. a big waste of time and money.

I should have just gone to Hakka Fresh up the street, literally in the same plaza.

The lady that served me was pleasant enough, but that doesn't make up for how trash the...

My initial review was 5 stars and written below. We had not gone here for a couple months but ordered yesterday. We go the usual dishes we get. I noticed a huge deterioration in the quality of the food. The lemon chicken we ordered had very hard batter almost impossible to chew. The black pepper beef was so grissly and tough it was impossible to eat and we threw it out. Spring rolls are still good as was the fried rice and noodles but the main dishes were terrible.

I have recommened this place to so many people. Maybe this was just a bad night but with the costs significantly higher than when they first opened the quality should still be good but it was not.

Not sure if I will ever go back.

Below is my initial review from when we first went and they first opened.

I pride myself in knowing good chinese food. I've lived in Hong Kong and traveled to Asia many times. Have also tried virtually every Chinese restaurant in Burlington and many across Ontario. Many places I've liked have either gone out of business or have had the quality of their food go down drastically. Well I decided to try the food here as the reviews looked good and I was blown away. We ordered a dinner for 2 and it did us more than 2 meals and the quality of the food was amazing. The people who work there are extremely friendly. This will now be my go to restaurant as I want to try everything on their menu. Oh and the prices...

When we arrived, we thought the service might be slow since there was only one very friendly lady working. But we were pleasantly surprised! On this 35-degree summer day, she offered us some delicious, refreshing drinks that really hit the spot. The place was cool and comfortable inside, and she welcomed us with a big smile and a great attitude.

While showing us the menu, she was also handing out takeout orders. We noticed the prices were very reasonable and the dishes looked really appealing.

Honestly, we thought it would take a while, but as soon as we placed our order, plates started coming out every three minutes. Everything was freshly made with fresh ingredients and tasted great — not too spicy, not too salty, and perfectly cooked. The dishes arrived piping hot, and we were surprised by the generous portions! Definitely more than enough for lunch.

The best part was the kindness. We came with kids, and when they asked for more drinks, she happily served them without hesitation. At the end, when we paid, she gave us some tasty Chinese candies and a fortune cookie. She mentioned the food is authentic Chinese cuisine, and I really loved it — especially since it was my first time visiting a Chinese restaurant.

I would definitely come back without hesitation. Delicious food, wonderful service, and a very pleasant place. I give it a...

Walking in right of the bat you realize that the place is a bit bare and lacks any character. There was even a PC setup in the corner as well which was a bit odd to me. When you are sat you are given a paper menu and paper cups for your water with odd looking ice cubes. You can tell it's tap water which is completely fine. Was a bit upset we didn't get the free lemonade mentioned in the reviews. The things we originally wanted can only be ordered for takeout which is a bit frustrating. We settled for the fried dumplings, chicken noodles, and the Xinjiang beef. I'd say the dumplings and noodles are more Asian American and the Xinjiang beef is more authentic Chinese. Out of the three the Xinjiang beef was my favorite. It is very well seasoned and has a kick to it. The meat was a bit tough but other than that it was amazing. The rest of the stuff was ok. I'd honestly say I recommend this place for takeout instead of dine in just because you get better deals and avoid the service and ambiance of the place all together.

I went there with my boyfriend to order the family meal for 2 to go. I was surprised to see that the we were allowed to choose our dishes. That was a huge bonus for me because I enjoy that freedom as opposed to meal plans that were already pre determined. The women who I believe was the owner was extremely friendly and even offered us this mint lemonade tea while we waited for our food. It was extremely refreshing and please note, she grew the mint from her own backyard! What an amazing touch. We ordered the fried noodles, the general Tso chicken, sweet and sour chicken, and her homemade dumplings. Everything tasted so amazing and honestly for the price, you can't go wrong! I highly recommend this place if you enjoy your share of Chinese dishes. I know we will definitely be going back for more :)

I had a craving for dumplings, so I looked up Google maps and this place was near my hotel. I didn't call ahead, so my order took a bit of time, but that just goes to show that everything is made to order. I knew this place was legit when I went to the bathroom and saw the shower head. Hard to explain, it's that chaotic feel 😅. I ordered fried dumplings, the general Tso chicken and the spicy shredded potatoes. My hotel was about 10 minutes away, so the food was hot when I got there. The dumplings were excellent, very well made. The chicken was good, but not as crispy as I would have liked, but that's because of the take out (condensation in the container). The potatoes were great, very spicy as I requested. My expectations were low, but I enjoyed my meal and would recommend.
