I guess i just got unlucky the first time around. I will leave the old review for the sake of continuity. Good job hotspot, im glad to have you guys in the neighborhood.
Awh man. I really didnt want to be the first person to not give a 5 star review and I really, really wanted to love the spot because I live only a couple blocks away. On the plus side, the place was staffed by a friendly guy and the pizza was ready super quick. Unfortunately the pizza itself just didnt taste like it should have. Maybe I got unlucky given all the gleaming reviews. The crust was still a bit raw in the center and hadn't really crisped up or risen. As such it was more akin to a heavy whole wheat breadstick. It just didnt taste like a pizza crust at all, none of the airiness, none of the flavor... just sort of chewy and about half risen. For being a pepperoni lovers, the pepperoni was also really sparse, my family thought it was a cheese pizza until after we finished and I told them what it was. As a result the sauce made up most of the flavor. I'm not a food critic by any means, nor was I expecting a gourmet pizza by any stretch of the imagination, just a decent budget pie, the likes of many hole in the wall places around vancouver. Unfortunately it just didnt hold up...
Read moreThis place is definitely a new hidden gem in North Burnaby! If you haven’t tried it yet, I highly recommend it. I loved their pizza crust – it’s not too thick but also not thin like Brooklyn-style pizza. I’m not sure of the style, but the dough is airy yet chewy, with just the right amount of fluff. The crust was perfectly baked, light and fluffy, with slightly charred pepperoni that was cooked just right, without being burnt.
I live nearby, and the new, clean look and eye-catching logo kept grabbing my attention. It has an old-school vibe with a modern touch inside, which is a great twist. We ordered the pepperoni pizza to start, and it was fantastic. Not overloaded with cheese, with the pepperoni layered both under and over the cheese, making it flavorful but not overwhelming. I’ll definitely be back – overall, 10/10!
I was a bit disappointed they didn’t offer dipping sauces, but the pizza was so good I didn’t even miss them. Young guys in the shop were very nice!
I also bought their cake in a jar, but have yet to try it. Too full for tonight! But wanted to make sure I wrote this review...
