Hill's Bakery — Restaurant in Burnaby

Pre-packaged, fresh baked goods to go. 5 Stars for the price, the quality is average to low but so cheap I don't care really. Everything tastes a bit too sweet. Scones are decent, and butter tarts. They used to have great coffee cakes but I haven't seen them in a while unfortunately. Apple strudel is a bit boring but good if you heat it in the oven. Convenient location with a small parking lot that there's always an open space in, or on the 129 bus route and sfu bus route. Again, these are fresh baked goods, not your brand name supermarket preservative bread so if you're keeping it for more than 2-3 days it should be put in the fridge before...

I have recently discovered Hill's Bakery. I have been buying bread from Kensington Safeway, but their whole wheat bread is getting shorted and less fluffy. Then I found out about this bakery from our family member. Whole wheat bread at the Hill's bakery is tall and fluffy and the price is almost half the Safeway bread. Their other baked good is so good too. I also really like to support this bakery because they hire local high school students as staff. It brings me a smile when high school students are trying their best to fulfill their first job. Great...

Cookies from Shoppers Drug Mart are a bit too sweet but very good - clearly their ingredients are fresh and come through really well. Shortbread cookies are the best consistency I've had from store-bought cookies. The only downside is that they are packed and sold in styrofoam trays with plastic wrap over them - the cookies sometimes have a tinge of styrofoam and soapy, plastic smell, which can ruin an otherwise...
