before today i had an excellent review of mr. ho's restaurant. unfortunately my food was not good at all.

i am a regular customer at mr. ho's. i've been coming to mr. ho's wonton for over 20 years, to the north road & lougheed location before they moved to kingsway. i think ownership has changed a long time ago. the price has gone up over the years but the food quality and service remained very consistent, which is why i bring my whole family here for special occasions.

today was completely different. i ordered a combo B as usual with extra wonton. my wonton soup was extremely salty! i ask the server to change this but they sent back the same bowl with very little change to how salty it was.

the plate for the rest of my combo was not good either. instead of boneless pork i was served the pork used for honey garlic spare ribs. the vegetables were slimy. the fried rice seemed like a smaller portion than usual, which was actually fine because it seemed like there's usually too much fried rice.

i didn't finish my plate. i wanted a good meal but i received something from the kitchen that told me they don't care about who was going to eat it. i'm not sure if it was a new cook or they are changing the food. maybe there is trouble between the servers and the kitchen. maybe because it's not busy. maybe they don't want customers to come so close to closing (if you don't like serving late customers -close earlier- don't serve bad quality food).

i don't feel comfortable coming back even with my family if this is the kind of food mr. ho's is now serving. i don't plan to come back until the food i used to get from mr. ho's comes back. i pay good money for good food. i don't want to pay for bad food.

thank you for over 20 years of great food. it's too bad this is...

we used to go there often, always gave them good tips in cash they told me that they prefer it that way. Once we got in misunderstanding because we have our favorite spot the woman told me we can go there, that is how I understood but she told us after that we can't go there. We left I told her I will seat where I want or go to another restaurant. That is my Principe if I go to a restaurant and it I don't like table I don't eat there I like nice table. Next time we were there the woman was looking at me so angry and I got diarrhea after, another person who was with me got diarrhea too too. Do I think that they put something in food? I don't think so otherwise I would bring inspection. But that bad feeling about an angry waitress diarrhea after hunt me down. I go to other restaurants and they tell me thank you after. So why going to Mr Ho? I will go back as soon as that waitress is out. Update from yesterday February 22 2022. I went there to pick up my order and guess who brought the order to me. The same waitress. She got a zero tips. The other lady who is manager ower there was arguing on the phone with someone. Unhappy customer? The manager was telling to person on the phone that someone is not there and to call again if want to speak the person. I'm not going there as I said. They will miss my generous tips I used to give every time. June 5 2022 we came back, my wife's idea and customer service was better. The bad lady was there , lady who is a manager and a nice lady who noticed that our son grew up. The manager lady was nice too. I might give them another chance, I'll start with giving them two stars more. I still have to check how they are...

Racist Establishment

I can not believe that I have to write this review. We have been ordering from Mr Ho's for years, and never had an issue. Tonight I ordered food that my wife was picking up for us. They gave my wife the wrong order, and called her once she had arrived home at home. They said that they would be willing to bring us our oder, but would have to charge us $15 more. We objected to this because A) they gave us the wrong food and it was their mistake, and B) we have young children who were hungry and starting to get fussy.

This is where this story goes sideways. When it was clear that we would not come to a mutual agreement, I told the hostess to come and pick up the wrong order and simply refund us our money. The hostess said, "I can't believe you Canadians would do this. You Canadians are so stupid! We are not refunding and just keep the food!" She then hung up on me.

After many years of going to this establishment, I am shocked and very disappointed to get a blatant racist remark from a person who lives and works in Canada. I will never go back to this place, and will deter my friends from going to a restaurant that allows their employees to be overtly racist toward its customers and have poor...

We used to frequent this restaurant years ago when we were in the neighbourhood as they served comfort Chinese food! It had been awhile since we’d been back but it certainly changed since then. We found the food subpar and not as how we remembered it. Don’t get me wrong - the staff were nice and had wore masks (always a plus for me) and they still had their regulars and were busy with take out but the food just didn’t hit the mark. It’s more western style, which is fine, but wasn’t what we were in the mood for. The prices seemed a bit high for what it was but again I think we were too reminiscent of our last times we were there. The curry chicken had little curry sauce itself and they charge per bowl of rice instead of offering a bucket at the get go (even though they deliver it in a bucket anyways haha). The crispy noodles seemed a bit overdone and the food was a bit oily for our liking. Again this was just our one opinion and the packed group across from us enjoyed their meal and it’s just an easy spot to wrangle a bunch of friends/family together so don’t let me deter you from visiting if you’re in the area as little businesses always need support!

Mr. Ho Wonton House has been in Burnaby for about 30 years. They are a good place to go to for casual and convenient everyday Chinese eats. Featured here: Vegetables & Bean Curd with Chinese Mushroom Deep Fried Squids with Salt & Hot Pepper Prawns With Swirled Eggs on Fried Rice Noodle Sichuan Style Long Green Beans Salty Fish & Diced Chicken Fried Rice Assorted Meat & Bean Curd Hot Pot Deep Fried Crispy Skin Chicken I only tried the first four dishes as I don't eat meat but everything I ate was tasty. My husband tried everything and was very impressed. We'd eaten food from this restaurant many times in the past but for some reason everything tasted better this time. Possibly related to the fact that we dined in this time instead of getting takeout. (We ordered takeout from this place many times during the pandemic!) Service: Good Parking: Free parking at the restaurant or on the street Location: 6731 Kingsway, Burnaby, BC

We used to come here many years ago and I remember how much I enjoyed the food each time we have gone. We recently moved to New Westminster and decided to give it a try again. Not at all how I remember it. Very disappointed. Probably the worst and blandest Chinese food I have had in a long while. Almost like they didn't bother to put any kind of spices or seasoning at all. We ordered 4 items: sweet & sour pork, chicken with garlic & bean sauce, bbq pork fried rice and shredded chicken chow mein. ALL BLAND. Worst part is they actually included the back part of the chicken in the chicken with garlic & bean sauce! It was mostly bones! How can a restaurant include what essentially is a throw-away part of the chicken (or if you really want to save , use it to create broth) in a $16 food item. The sweet & sour pork was all fat! Outrageous! Sorry, but we aren't coming back.
