Loudest library ever it shouldn’t be a library just call yourself a town hall or community centre at this point. There are no standards in place to keep it quiet. In fact the opposite is promoted with about 30 people in a group conversing loudly why does the library accept these bookings? At least build sound proof walls or perhaps direct these groups out when their meetings are done instead of having them continue socializing in a completely disruptive way for hours. Some people aren’t able to go further to find a silent study space… it’s so inconvenient that people can’t rely on this institution to fulfill its main purpose of being a Library! You know what it’s a cute library, but too loud. there’s always kids talking someone watching tiktok and 2-3 people sleeping snoring to no end. The area with that separate conference room should be expanded and that side of the library walled off with closed doors- sure, implement some floor to ceiling windows or a sky light- for exclusive silent studying...
Read moreThe Burnaby Public Library, Tommy Douglas Library, located at 7311 Kingsway, is a wonderful resource for the community! The library offers a convenient pick-up service and allows patrons to request books to be ordered on their behalf, making it user-friendly and accessible. Inside, you'll find plenty of computers and spaces designed for studying and reading, providing a welcoming environment for visitors.

One minor downside is the limited availability of small meeting spaces for borrowing, which might be a consideration for those needing private spaces.
The library also offers practical parking solutions, with free underground parking and a 15-minute drop-off parking area in the front. Additionally, the outside panel for book returns after hours adds to the library's convenience and...
Read moreThe library has some comfortable seating, but the people that work there are unkind and favour their bureaucratic system over the comfort of the guests. A gentleman was sitting, leaning back in his chair with his eyes closed. He was thinking about something and decided to rest his eyes, and this was obvious. The lady from behind the counter came over and began addressing him in a rude and condescending manner telling him that there is no sleeping at the library. He responded with a gentle "It's ok, I'm not sleeping, I'm only thinking about something and it helps me think to close my eyes." She insisted that there was to be no sleeping to him and continued to harass him, even though he was obviously not sleeping!
I am convinced that the humanity is sucked from this place, and you will find no peace unless you fit within their strict bureaucratic policies enforced by an...
