Hadn't been to Something Sweet in quite awhile. They've changed the decor since we last came here. It's got one of those black and white 2D looks to it; it's so whimsical with lollipops, hot air balloons, snowflakes and clouds hanging in every direction!
We ordered Yuen Yeung and a White Grapes Sparkling Soda. My Yuen Yeung drink came with one of those cute Teddy Bear cubes, made of the drink itself instead of water, so the flavor of the drink doesn't get diluted. Loved my Yuen Yeung but my daughter's White Grapes Sparkling Soda was quite flat and not at all sparkly. Her friend had ordered a Sparkling Soda drink too, in a different flavor. That drink was also flat and not at all sparkly.
Looking back, I think we had bought a sparkling soda drink from this place before and it wasn't very sparkly back then either. They really need to do something about their sparkling soda drinks. The rest of the drinks and food that we've tried have been good. I do find the food and drinks here are a bit overpriced for what they are...especially the drinks. The ambiance is nice though. It's got such a fun vibe to it...fun enough that I could possibly find myself back here again sometime. Probably not anytime soon though.

Read moreLast weekend, I happened to be in this area, and the weather was a bit hot. So I wanted to have a cold drink, but there were very few shops around. I chose this one to try. Interestingly, it had a lot of pictures on the walls, and the most special part was the ceiling, which was decorated with many cute hangings, making it feel like stepping into a fairy tale world. I ordered an iced oat milk Earl Grey bubble tea. The pearls were very soft and chewy, and the tea had a rich and fragrant flavor. Since I had my dog with me, I sat at their only outdoor table. Soon, a very friendly staff member came out and asked if they could give my dog some free ice cream. When she brought out a cute little cup, I saw some things that looked like chocolate chips on top. I thought they were chocolate chips, but she explained that they were carob beans, which are safe for dogs, and mentioned that she also had a dog. My dog gulped it down in just a few bites. It was the first time I had heard of carob beans, and she even told me to Google it .Overall, it was an unexpectedly pleasant experience, and I will...
Read moreI drove past this café many times and finally decided to try their Pineapple bun bubble waffle. First visit was on Monday evening. The young female staff was very friendly and acknowledged us very quickly. We ordered two Pineapple bun bubble waffles and they took about 25 minutes to make. They are not as sweet as other traditional bubble waffles and they definitely taste best when they are freshly made.
I came back today to try their Eggie Sando. The scrambled eggs in the sandwich tasted very soft and fluffy. It can be very messy if you plan to eat one on the go. I also ordered the Ube coffee. It only comes in iced but it’s perfect for summer weather. From what I observed, the Pineapple bun bubble waffle seemed to require less time to make today (~15 minutes).
The ambience is very cute with lollipops and cotton candies hanging on the ceiling. There are also signs to kindly ask the diners to return dirty utensils and dispose of garbage...
